I know how you feel I was depressed once 2 and had the same thoughts. Try to think about the ppl who love you the ppl who are always there for you. Dont think just about what you feel, theres many ppl i am sure that LOVE you even if you dont thinks so. Talk to a friend go out take a walk in the park, look up at the sky and see everything around you and the beaty this world has to offer. You are here for a reason and you need to find that reason maybe you can help ppl out or do community service that way you can feel better also try doing something for someone or spend time with your family or friends. Try not to be by yourself as much as possible....Good Luck...PS what you did by asking that here was a great start I really feel proud of you cause thats hard to do and we will always be here for you.

You say you don't want to tie up the suicide hotline but they are there to help. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone. I've called the hotline so many times I know their names. I even have someone who knows me by name and I always make sure it's her I talk to. If you don't want to call a hotline, you can always email me. I know how you're feeling. I harm myself sometimes as well, I've even overdosed on pills because I was so depressed. I enjoy talking to people who need some help. I'm here for you anytime you need to talk.

This is a very good blog, a beginner’s guide to abnormal psychology.
Short, clear and simple; and you can even post your question and contact the author regarding particular subject you are interested in

just do some of the things that might distract you - go out with friends, invite someone over (maybe even sleepover), watch something on TV that you really like (comedies?) ...
hope this helps!
