I heard people lose weight easier after gallbladder removal because the body cannot digest the fat you consume as well as before, so it leaves the body quickly through diarehha or loose stool.

I have friends who say they know people who have been heavy all through their lives or for a long time, and they lost a lot of weight after gall bladder removal.

Of course the reason I'm asking is because I had mine removed with the "keyhole" surgery Nov 1, 2006. Doing wonderful. No loose stool, either. No pain and no problems eating anything I want. Healing quickly!

Thanks for the feedback!

The absorption of Fat is almost the same after Cholecystectomy.

Well, my father underwent the operation you are mentioned few months ago, it is called Laproscopic Cholecystectomy, where surgeons remove the GallBladder.

The Gallbladder, is responsible for collecting secretions that are produced in the Liver. The Gallbladder absorbs back water from these secretions making them more and more concentrated.

So the point is, the Gallbladder does not produce anything from itself, its only a reservoir for Liver enzymes and secretions. But these secretions, are more potent when they are concentrated, so this explains why some people get nauseated when they ingest a large amount of Fat after cholecystectomy.

However, the absorption of Fat is almost the same after Cholecystectomy.
