The walls are described in the survey as a mixture of brickwork and stud partitioning with a plastered and pained finish. Will I be losing a lot of heat and making it less soundproof by doing this?

More than anything, you need to consider the quality of the brickwork. Is it an old place? Hopefully, if the brickwork is fairly sound, all that will be needed is a little scrubbing and cleaning - maybe a little re-pointing. As regfards the expence, depends if you're doing a DIY job or getting someone in - either way, it's going to be messy, but go for it. It's a lovely look!

beneath the plaster may not be brickwork,it may be blockwork depending on the age of your flat.if built in the last 45 years almost certainly it will be blocks.

Don,t do it, sounds like a nightmare to me. If it was an old building, ok, but I don,t think it is, put up some nice paper.
