Could someone please tell me why some dog owners either won't or can't train their yapping dogs to shut up even though you have walked many yards away from the dogs and their owners' homes? Dogs should be trained to respond to real threats, not a person walking past their owner's house and not moving in an aggressive manner toward it. Does this annoy anyone else? If I am 20-30 feet past their property, dog owners should have it so their dogs shut up.

Well - I agree - the owners do need to work with their dogs. I live in the city - so people walk pretty close to my house. I always quiet my dogs. They aren't yappy, but they will bark if you are too close to the house.

However - the behavior is self rewarding to some dogs - you are approaching the house -they bark - you leave. The dog thinks it made you go away. so it is encouraged- It's the mailman syndrome. My mailman delievers mail to the box on my house so he comes all the way up onto the porch - I know my dogs think their barking is what causes him to turn around and leave every day.

im pleased that you agree its not the dogs fault but their owners. it doesnt annoy me as such as im used to dogs barking constantly (work in a dog rescue centre) look at it from a dogs point of view they are protecting their property its what they do. even if an owner has their dog trained it doesnt mean their dogs will shut up if a stranger passes by. they are simply letting their owners no theres someone near. dont get upset by it its normal.

LOL I have one of those "yappers". They do it to let their owners know that someone is outside. They dont understand that the person walking by is not coming to visit. And sometimes I think that they do it for entertainment. Mine started to bark AFTER someone broke into our house. So for all I care she can bark at anyone walking by(as long as she's in the house).

I have that problem in reverse. We have a couple that walk their dogs past our house an if our dog is out...they bark at her. They bark at us, when we're out in our own yard! The dogs being protective of their own yard, I can see. But these yapping mutts barking their way around the entire block is what bugs me.

i could completely enable my canine to donate blood. considered one of my canine had to have an emergency transfusion to save her life and if between the vet techs on the vet hadn't presented up her canine that turn into already there, mine could have died because of the fact we did no longer have time to flow residing house and get our different canine. this is a great element to do, it would not harm the donor and it may desire to alright save yet another canine's life. as long as care is taken to maintain the donor mushy, then why don't you? i does no longer do it excessively, yet right here and there to help out, truthfully. Edit: To Sunny, you stated that it may desire to undertaking your canine. I watched them take the blood from the donor in the previous putting it in my canine and he turn into high quality. They gave him a soft sedative and he only laid there flippantly. all of them stroked him and comforted him and later on he only sat up like no longer something had got here approximately. He wasn't traumatized in any respect. If it have been distressing for the guy canine, then that canine for sure isn't a candidate, yet i think of maximum canine could do only high quality.

Hehe i have two of those what u call "yappers" well they do that just to let their owner know that their are people near the house or outside.
Everytime someone is on our property that lets me know that someone is going to ring the doorbell.
