I am trying to protect my identity, and personal information. Recently a person online without my permission or knowledge posted quite a bit of information about me, that they apparently found online. It was very troubling that people can find information out about you so easily. I want to protect myself. Every single Government agency, every financial institution, every healthcare provider has to have your social security number now. It didn't used to be that way. I don't know of any way I can protect myself from identity theft - how can I? thanks

Hi on_the_move4ever,

My youngest daughter works at a bank & has for 8 years, she told me to sign all credit cards & debit cards with see id(driver's license) that way your protected against thieves, on your checks-put your name & address only-that way sale people will ask to see drivers license then you can tell them your phone number if they need 2 numbers give home & work number. LQQk online where you find people, DMV-Department of Motor Vehicle(in some states post this information-ask to be taken off there list). You can bank on it some can't give out that information though, so if you want to protect yourself in every field try writing the government about identy thief & protecting your rights. Have a good day! :0)

First, a good contractor wouldn't do any sawing in the room if possible, as it not only leaves a mess that must be meticulously cleaned up after the job is done (and a good contractor DOES that), but it is poor ventilation for him AND coats your air ducts/systems with dust. Aside from that, he could SEE the items were in the room and uncovered... A real professional would cover them himself or at least notify you that you need to cover or move them before he got to work. However, it sounds like your brother wasn't thinking when he started sawing and now wants to blame it on you. Being family, he probably thinks he can do that and get away with it. But, you are paying him at his professional rate, not family rate. I'd take him up on that family discount, if I were you. Oh, and never, ever hire him again. The other possibility is that this was some sort of revenge or to "teach" you something... Either way, yet another reason to not mix business and family....

Check your mail, don't leave anything in your mailbox or people can get your info from your mail. Also, use a shredder when throwing away paperwork that has personal information on it. Only use secured sites and don't give out your information to any uncredited company or website or over the phone.
