We have our own immigration laws--they are not enforced. I wish they were tougher but fairer.
To avoid criticism, our government does nothing, says nothing, and are being nothing. And that is not good. They are poor Leaders.
Funny how other Governments are able to to say "This is how it is" and keep their standing-but ours can not. Pitiful!

First of all the US is one of the developed countries with the worst immigration laws that is why you have that problem, I am from Europe (France) and lately we have been having thousands of northern Africans come into the country, so what the government did to not take the problem to the extent of the US they set up special police in the airport and border and they only give legal residence to those who want to stay in France and legally work, and if they have not committed any felonies in the past. Also I am now in America and let me say that your problem is bad but at the same time is not. In France we have those Africans that after the government voted to deny them rights started to protest violently, let me tell you that the French law enforcement and military are really strong yet we could not control those guys because you don't know who is a citizen and who is not, and if you kill a citizen the people go crazy. also the main problem here is religion (they are Islamic). In America the immigrants are passive, they never attack even when they are repeatedly discriminated against. And let me tell you that it looks reasonable that a world power can control a few million immigrants in case they go nuts, but imagining it is easy the real thing is really hard to accomplish, in the end those guys got rights and France is more peaceful without all the commotion about illegal immigration.

I prefer a combination of Canada's and Mexico's.Canada only takes the brightest and the best of the people wishing to immigrate there.Mexico treats all illegals as a felon. There is some in both that I like.
Immigration law violators are not immigrants . They are aliens who are in the United States in violation of law. There is a profound difference between individuals who legally apply for admission and fulfill all the requirements for admission, and those who decide to enter the United States, or intentionally overstay their visa in violation of law. Labeling such violators as intending immigrants only confuses the issue and juxtaposing these two categories is specious logic. A few of the important differences include criminal and health backgrounds of intending entrants. A lawfully admitted alien must undergo health screening and will not be admitted if found to have a communicable disease. Similarly, certain criminal convictions exclude some aliens from admission into the United States as well. Of course, the smuggled alien, or one who enters without inspection, bypasses such rules and regulations. This is not to suggest that the majority of illegal entrants into the United States are criminals or diseased, but a percentage of this group are. Just how many criminal aliens are in the United States is difficult to determine primarily because many who are in custody either do not disclose their true status, or they are released before ICE can remove them.

Sure, since so many people dislike our laws the way they are. Pro-illegals and illegals know that even though we don't always enforce our immigration laws that we can choose to do so at any time. Let's give them some Mexican style amnesty and see if they like that any better! Then maybe they'd see we weren't being so unreasonable after all.

Since they are our "friend" it's only fair to make the rules the same. Lord knows we don't want any confusion on the matter.

Why should we look to other countries for what our laws should be, we are the US after all. We are the ones who set the standard, we are the one the other countires look to, we should be exemplar. When we start looking to others for what we should do, we will no longer be the country we once were.

Yes they should. I do not mind a bit what the ACLU would do either in such a situation.. It would be a good idea.
