Can I ask my doctor to give me total anestesia or local one when inserting the IUB birth control?

I`ve already had four kids and I`m still worry about that and this is why I`m asking here before asking my doctor, is this ridiculous?

You can ask but I doubt that they will b/c general anesthesia carries risks with putting any patient under ; this procedure doesn't require it ; why not have your husband get a vasectomy?

You should never be afraid to ask your doctor anything . It is your body . You already have 4 children so I commend you for seeking birth control since you obviously have made up your mind not to have another child. You know for your own peace of mind, you can call your doctor before actually going in and find out how they do this procedure. Good luck!

Did you mean an IUD? It does not hurt to get it put in. It really aint no worse than having a pap smear. I know people have different level of pain but really it only takes seconds to put it and no pain besides cramping for a few days while your uterus gets used to it being in there.

Its not painful at all... its just like a pap. There is local when they dialate the cervix a little. Or alteast thats what i was told.

But you should DEFINITLY talk to your doctor about all your concerns and questions.

Yes, ask your doctor anything at all. I wouldn't have thought you'd need an anasthetic, but your doctor will listen to your concerns and advise you.

You can ask your doctor anything you want. It's your body and your money. He may recommend something else, but you're in control.
