It comes with Microsoft Works, which is a stripped-down version of Microsoft Office. Some people like it, others don't.

Linux doesn't come with Microsoft Office; in fact, there's not a single Microsoft product for the Linux platform. However, Linux comes with Open Office, the open-source copy of Microsoft Office. There's also a Windows version of it, so if you don't like Microsoft Works, you can use Open Office in your PC without experiencing compatibility issues with Microsoft products.

No. You will need to purchase an Office package like Microsoft Office 2003 that comes standard with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. I believe the new Office 2007 just came out as well, but you should check the specifications to see if it runs on your PC. Personally, I have an old Office version from the late 90's that still works perfectly fine for me on my newer PC, so there is always an option to pick up an older version and save some bucks. The old version runs much faster than my work laptop that has Office 2003. I think they make newer software with big fat features that take longer to load and operate. I prefer the older slimmed down versions that load fast, operate easily with most if not all of the features needed. It certainly meets my needs. Good Luck!

No, you will have to buy Microsoft Office if you need to use Word / Excel or other software from Microsoft. In Linux distributions you will find similar similar products (Openoffice Writer same as Word) , which is available for free.

No. You may have a trial skeleton version but you will have to pay for that software. It is too good to be free.
