30 years ago nobody would care about this fight. Although he can box, Manny Pacquio weights something like 130 lbs. . America does not want to see this garbage, we want to see real fights with the biggest baddest opponents (tyson, ali, foreman, lennox, Golota....)

My only conclusion is this, if this is all boxing has to offer america mma will soon takeover

I disagree with you tusc.....Wlad Klitschko is pretty good and could probably hang with Holyfield ( i think he could even beat a prime holyfield with his jabs).....

I just have never seen a flyweight match so popular.....

You don't know much about boxing do you. The lower weights have produced more stars than the heavyweights though heavyweights are popular and the flagship the great names came from the middleweights Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Gans, Duran Hagler. the list is endless less can be said for the heavies trilogies produce the most exciting fights and finales around the passion and determination of the fighters is on display. Ali/ Frazier. Ward / Gatti.
Oh and by the way just because a guy can fight doesn't necessarily mean he can BOX. Most heavyweights can't punch as well per capita as the lower weights. Look at the sisiies the heavies have produced Lewis, Ruiz. Can you say the same for the lower weights. The cash cows 30 years ago were from the lower weights and 50 years ago the record breakers were lower weight match-ups. Some of the cash cows these days De La Hoya, Mayweather, Gatti, Jones, Toney and Hopkins are from the lower weights. So in short the answer is NO

The popularity of boxing has gone south due to corrupted judges, Crooked promoters, and boxing stars that choose to fight easy opponents for the money , than fight real competition for the legacy of the sport. Fights like Pacquio vs Morales, is what actually keeping the sport alive. These two little gladiators loves to get in the ring and duke it untilt the fight is over. They do entertain the public. Its true that we don`t have TRUE heavyweights anymore, like George Foreman, Ali, Frazier, Tyson, Joe louis and etc... Today the big guys prefer joining bigger higher paying sports like Football and Basketball...

Great fighters make great divisions and through the last 30 years we have been spoiled by great heavyweights who are true hall of famers. However at the moment there is a distinct lack of talent in the heavyweight division. The reason.... I believe that the theory today is, the bigger and heavier you are the better chance you have. This is why you don't get the 15-16 stone fighters in the division breaking through. Instead you get 7 foot tall 24 stone hulks who do not have the technical skills or the endurance to be a true great. This is why the lighter divisions are becoming more popular, the fighters are true boxers not giant hitters and huggers!
