Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to hang for crimes against humanity, me personally i dont think we should excecute him because we would be creating a modern day martyr and we would be promoying the atrocities he has commited, And as mahatme gande once said "an eye for an eye will leave the world blind"

Kill him

1. It will show terrorists that we and Iraq are serious about what we are doing.

2. He is a killer.

3. He must never walk the Earth again.

4. You point about martyrdom is false. You are showing that pacificism does not work. We must deal with killers with violence. When you have a bully, beat the jeepers out of him and he will go away.

THE MAIN REASON WHY WE HAVE SO MUCH TERRORISM PROBLEMS IS WE DO NOT RESORT TO VIOLENCE. WE ARE TOO SOFT ON PEOPLE WHO WANT TO KILL US. WE DID NOT LEARN THE LESSONS FROM WW2: IGNORING EVIL ONLY MAKES IT HARDER TO GET RID OF LATER.

Saddam will be executed as the West and the Relatives of his victims demand it. He would of always been the Martyr even if he had been killed fighting Coalition forces, or had been assassinated or kept in Jail. Arabs to not want to get involved with Iraq's problems and once the Coalition forces leave there will be a civil war , with the Shia as winners. They will join forces with Iran, America will then be back once again but this time Syria will also get involved and this will be another 10 years of fighting with no winners, only more dead innocent civilians and more hatred spread throughout the World. Why cant we all respect each other and live on a peace full planet.

I think if he is a killer he shuld be excecuted for a lesson to other killers. In every religion a murder is punished by death otherwise nobody will be alive except murderers.Respected Mahatma Gandhi might had not got a chance to meet a person who lost his eye or eyes by a criminal, the very [blind] person can tell how it feels when you loose your eye or eyes, when whole the world seems a huge dark circle! I think logically the world will be blind when you will let go the blinders free!!! So that he could do it again & again & encourage others to do so.It is a greatness to humans to forgive but who would be the responsible if criminal takes another eye or a life whenever he gets a chance????

Besides not agreeing with capital punishment, it's not fair that Saddam Hussein is executed.
The only crime against they have charged him with is the murder of 148 Shi'ite villagers in the town of Dujail (1982). Bearing this in mind, how many people has Bush and Blair murdered? How many other crimes against humanity have they commited? Surely, if Saddam is to be hanged, these people should be too.
Also, the date set for Saddam's execution is expected to be in the spring of 2007, though Iraqi law forbids execution to people over 70 years old (Saddam will be over 70 in April)
It's pathetic to think this is happening.

Now, think about this for a minute. Suppose he is not executed for his many, many crimes against humanity. When the USA troops leave Iraq (and this may happen soon) there is a real possibility that the terrorists over there will storm the prison, release him and set him up as president again. The ensuing bloodbath will make the current bad situation look like a picnic!!
No, he must be executed before the USA pulls out.

if he is executed there will be even more bombs etc going off, some as 'punishment' for execuitng him, and as you say he will be a martyr. Performing the execution will be difficult sum people will want it public, but this will be a massive security risk, imagine a suicide bomber going off as Saddam is hanged, or indeed before o after, it will be complete carnage. If it is not done in publib there is bound to be some sort of group 'party' by those who welcome his execution, and agian this coud end in use carnage. Hanging him will create more trouble then just leaving him to rot somewhere in prision

I disagree simply because so long as he is alive there will be a faction in Iraq wanting to restore him to power. It would be a fair guess that this is the source of about 1/3 of the insurgency in Iraq at this time.
There have been countless American solders loose their lives for no other reason than the fact that Saddam is still alive.

Hello my friend to be honest I really do not know the full history of Saddam, but I do know this my friend Saddam was the Vice President of Iraq back in the days and he wanted to kill the President Abdl Karrem Qassim but failed so he left Iraq(Babylonia) but returned to Babylonia with the help of the CIA (Criminals In Action) then he succeded and took power afterwards through Fear and that is exactly what these Small Elite Of Men wanted to happen....... but after the War between Kuwait which took 2 hours to take over (fastest take over of a country in the History of Time), anyway maybe that is what The Small Elite Of Men wanted just to take a big piece of Kuwait but who knows that is just what I belief in deeply and when that had happend they saw a good opening to take control of the richness of Oil in Kuwait. Anyway I really dont know if Saddam turned against the Small Elite Of Men or not but if he did turn against them he shouldnt be killed coz he was just a puppet but if he was doing the killing for The Small Elite Of Men then he should be hanged and then thrown in the sea, that is only if he was working with The Small Elite Of Men and that is what I beilef in deeply.

Most of the answers are right he should die.If we hadn't gone into Iraq how many more people would he have killed in is own country and abroad it was only a matter of time before the W of M D had been used. There is no smoke without fire there must have been some evidence of these weapons for us to go in.I think he was clever enough to hide them out of the country before we got there

If he is killed, he is unlikely to be become a martyr, as his "value" is in helping to restore the old order, for which he is needed alive as the figurehead of the regime. Keep him alive and you keep the dream alive.

I don't support the death penalty, but I do accept that the Iraqi law says that he should be hung.

As some one once said "If you don't agree with the laws of the land then don't live there".

He won't hang alone. If he does not hang, he is a prisoner of the Iraqi judicial system, so let's say if he got life, it would only be a matter of time before he "escapes". There is NO other option except to hang him. I believe hanging is a more un soldier way to die (he asked to be shot)
