Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus can be very hard to get rid of, easy to spread, and very dangerous to your unborn child. Use gloves when dealing with the drainage, keep coverings over your two year olds boils if possible. Wash your hands frequently. You need to talk to your ob/gyn about all the necessary precautions to keep from sharing the infection and how to help your two year old recover. The sad thing is, this is more prevalent nowadays due to a long history of everyone not taking their whole doses of antibiotics and the germs becoming immune to the old antibiotics. She will always carry that organism, but after she's non-symptomatic it's considered colonized and not contagious until symtoms of infection reappear (temp, boils, cough, etc). The main thing is get medical treatment for her quickly and follow the precautions!!

I am preg and work at the hospital. This is not good. At the hospital we gown and wear masks and gloves. This resdient is put in isolation. No on touches him/her, withougt protection. More so if you are pregnant.

I have always gowned up and maksed up and gloved up, even when I was not preg. But now, if we had an MRSA come in, since I am preg. I would refuse to work with that patient.

You are going to de-toxic you 2 year old I assume. See if health care can do it. Home care I mean. Or maybe a relative can come in. Explain to your toddler, I love you, I just can't breathe your air for a little while. I love you more then ever.

You need to talk to your doctor about this, and what the options you have, to protect you and your unborn baby. Asking your doctor is going to give you the CORRECT answer. Hope all is going to be well for your toddler, baby and you.

I dont believe it has any effect on either of you. Your first daughter has a skin condition where her skin reacts to her internal and/or external environment with boils. To the best of my knowledge its not contagious...

I believe thats what a girl i went to school with had. Poor thing always looked like a leper.
