I had a disscussion with a christian uncle of mine conserning prayer and God. I belive that there is only one God, you can call God by any name, but it is still God(a rose is a rose is a rose). So he says that since I don't use jesus's name when I pray that I'm praying to Lucifer. Now I know I'll get tons of lecture type material about the "truth" but do you really think that if I have the intention to pray to God but don't use a particular name, the prayer direction changes and Lucifer's "phone rings"?
I'm not confused about this matter I'm curios as to what reponces I'll recive.
please don't preach to me, I'll never be your convert trophy

Your uncle is way off base. God knows you are praying to Him, and God is not the one hung up on all these details. I'm sorry, but that "praying to Lucifer" line is the most asinine thing that I have heard in a long time, and there is a lot of competition on this website for that dubious distinction. Peace be with you, you are free to practice whatever religion you chose, or not. Drivel like you described is the reason why people turn away from God.

FYI: I am a Christian, and what your uncle told you is ridiculous

That is a VALID question.
I know where your uncle is coming from, but I believe he is twisting the word from the Bible.
You are supposed to pray in Jesus' name. However...NO WHERE does it say that if you don't your prayers go straight to Satan. God hears them.
I'm sorry that it was your uncle who said that, but that aggravates the fire out of me when people add to the Bible, or take away from the Bible just to suit their needs, then pass their twisted ideas off on others who might follow them.
The Bible says prove everything. So, that is what I do. And you are doing right by questioning this "teaching" before just blindly accepting it. Good going.
Though, better than Yahoo Answers, the Bible is the best place to find the truth. You will still get peoples versions of what the Bible says here. If you read it in the Bible...you get Gods version of it. And his version doesn't need any editing by man.

Your uncle is right. We are to Pray in Jesus Name. Don't be offended at us Christians, it is Jesus who said it, we just follow His directions.

Also you are wrong to say that every Name is a Name for The One True God. Every Pagan Idol is a representation of a Demonic spirit who has masqueraded as That god/Idol. You invoke that Demonic spirit when you use that Name. The Bible even says that Idol worship is the worship of devils.

God always heres you when you pray. Tell your uncle that if the trinity is true then how can you be praying to God without Praying to Jesus. Online you can look up some bible verses about Trinity. Use the NKJV of the KJV. Thats what i prefer.

Ok without preaching, I'll make this as short as possible... It doesn't matter what you call God/Jesus, as long as in your heart you are praying to him. Your Uncle is a little mixed up. It'd be like me calling you a nickname or something, and you not answering cause it's not your real name. Nope doesn't work like that. If you don't call God "God" that doesn't mean youre talking to Lucifer.

Prays are only answered when you are right with God, and asked in the name of Jesus.

You pray however you want. If you are sincere, that is all that matters. It constantly amazes me the holier than thou attitude of people. If you pray and mean it, that's all that matters. Tell your uncle to pray the way he wants and you'll do the same.

i'm not sure about Christian theology.... but Muslims, like myself, pray to God and God alone. We also, believe that everything you do is judged by your intentions. in my personal belief, God forgive me if I'm wrong, if you intend on praying to God that is who will hear your prayer

peace and blessings to all

I tend to agree. There's many names for God, but I dont think it's necessary to use one. Typically in prayer, one usually calls His name anyway. God always listens and knows your thoughts.
