It can never completely go away but bipolar disorder causes there to be a chemical imbalance and medication serves to try and balance you out more so. Different medication works for different people so if you have it go to a Doctor you trust and ask him what medication would be right for you.

Bipolar is forever, however it can be kept in check with the right meds. Unfortunately there is not just one med that works for everyone. You have to go to a doctor, and try different things until you find what works for you. And you have to stay on your meds. All to often people with bipolar disorder begin to feel great on their meds, and think they don't need to take them anymore.

You don't cure bipolar disorder with treatment. You manage it. That means you will need to keep treating it for the rest of your life. But, if you do treat it, your life can be normal.

No, it cannot be cured, but with proper counseling or medication it can make your life a lot more controllable. Believe me, I know because I have had bipolar all of my life....since I can remember, even though I wasn't diagnosed until I was 27 years old. It nearly ruined my life. Now I have to use counseling along with medications & visits ocassionally to my psychiatrist.

No, as a manic depressive myself, I have to accept the fact that I will always be bipolar for my entire life. It will not go away. Medication will help control it though.
