Because there are more survivors around to tell their stories, to advocate, to educate, and to fund research.

Also women have been able to mobilize and establish breast cancer foundations to support their cause.

It should be noted, however, that breast cancer is not new, but an ancient disease first written about by the Egyptians in 1600 BC. The Edwin Smith Papyrus describes 8 cases of breast tumors and mentions that there is 'no treatment'.

Population and 21 century medicines. By this I mean, in my opinion there are more and more detections because of our ages, (I would say from 25 to 70). Why the bulk of population of these ages are coming up in great numbers, Makes me wonder about the life styles, environnmental changes and the way we try to take care of ourselves more now than back when, has a lot to do with this. (the more petrie trays of diseases times quantity will probably equal another type of concern). The more significant number of population times breasts and the rapid changes in lives/enviornment the more you will hear of this.
