You need to get the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting"!! It is so informative and detailed. They update it every couple of years to keep up with current science and medicine. It was my pregnancy Bible! It even has illustrations to show the stages of babies development. There is also "What to Expect the First Year" book and on.
Another good "fun" book is "A Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". It is a very fun, no nonsense, practical read.
I hope these help. Good Luck with your new baby!!!

what to expect when you are expecting is a great book. they also have one called what to expect in the first year. they are best sellers, and also very informative. They will walk you thru body changes, mood changes, everything. I recommend those two over all the rest. also for after the baby is born most states have a pediatric developement center, and also they have educational groups for new moms. Also great ways to learn how to raise, properly discipline, infant needs, etc.. WIC will know more about that, they always have things for new moms, and are a great resource place if you don't know where to go for things like that.

There are a ton of great books out there. Check out your local library. Great selection and you don't waste any money.
I personally did not like 'The What to Expect While Expecting'.
The book I turned to most was 'Planning Your Pregnancy and Birth' from the The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. I actually got it from my mid-wife. It is a fabulous book!
Hope that helps.
Congratulations!

There is always the "What to expect" serious which has alot of information, but can be tedious at times. I personally recommend, "your pregnancy: Week by week". There is also a free book that you can get from the Mayo clinic. It is huge....It has loads of information and lots of pictures...just go to their website and type in pregnancy. It should come up.

What To Expect When You Are Expecting. (a lady in a chair as a cover picture) This book told me step by step what to expect from my body and emotions. There are a series of these books that go to what to expect the first year (developmentally). It is by far the best books on the topic. Good Luck.

I think the best book I ever had was called "your pregancy week by week" sorry I don;t know who wrote it, but it was definatly better then "what to expect when your expecting". When I had my first son the hospital gave use a bunch of books and leaflets to read.

I highly recommend "The Secret Life of the Unborn Child: How You Can Prepare Your Baby for a Happy, Healthy Life"
by Thomas Dr Verny, John Kelly
It is amazing how much your baby is affected by his or her surroundings before he or she is ever born.

what to expect when you're expecting. Been around for years, updated a million times, tried and tested. Its the best one out there.
But you'll probably find that the internet offers you an excellent resource.
