It sounds like you may have an infection and will need antibiotics to get it taken care of.
Please be careful, as infections can turn septic (toxic) and make you extremely ill, if not kill you.
I would call your local human services department or hospital and see if they could recommend a low income/no income dentist in your area that would be willing to see you for free or at a reduced rate.

you need to at least find out WHAT is wrong or you WILL end up in the ER. Call the dentist - you need a Problem Focussed Exam (which is cheaper than a full exam) and one or two PA (periapical) xrays which together should come to a grand total of $75 or so. GEt someone to loan you the cash.

Another good alternative - if you live in an area w/ a dental school, that visit is a lot cheaper.

If they are REALLY hurting, you will proably require extractions or root canals. If finances are an issue, you won't be able to save the teeth. have them extracted and save up for some kind of partial denture. This is the economical way to go.

If you don't spend the $75 or so at the dentist (followed by about $150 a tooth for extractions) you will end up in the ER an that will (as you know) cost a bundle and all they'll do is give you antibiotics and pain meds to tide you over 'til you go to the dentist, so that is basically throwing money away, as the dentist can do the same thing for cheaper.

good luck

If you do an Internet search. There are discounted dental programs that run about 6-100 dollars a month and some are immediate for coverage. Granted its not an insurance plan but they do offer great discounts on dental visits. Then once you get to the Dr some may work out arrangements with you depending on your procedures.

Chances are, the ER won't be able to do much for you. A shot, or pills. They'll just tell you to follow up with a dentist ASAP, and then you'll have two huge bills to deal with.

Call your local health department and see if they can recommend any low-cost dental clinics.
