I feel secular people can be hypocrites too. No one is perfect. Everyone judges whether they admit it or not. I hate it when people say they are not judgmental. Everyone is judgmental. If we were not judgmental, we would not be human. I hate it when people lable others as hypocrites when they are hypocrites themselves.

I'm sorry that I made mistakes on the typing of this question. I mean to write this: May One Not Go to Church and Be a Hypocrite Too?

Non religious people can be hipocritical so long as they say one thing and practice another. I think religious people get targeted because what they claim is that sinful people are condemned to damnation (which is pretty serious), when they are sinful themselves. Although no one is perfect, which is why penance is a reality.
If a non-religious person claims even bad people can go to heaven (or something to that effect) and they are good people themselves, then their hipocracy is not so serious.

It is better to get the grammar down before messing with the caps key.
Yes there can be hypocrites that are not religious.
We usually call them politicians.
The idea of hypocrisy carries the concept of peaching one course of action while following another.
It also usually includes the concept of the hypocrisy being deliberate and for advantage.
It is also that it is public.
In short, a form of fraud.
The nature of religion makes the hypcrites more common, more noticable and much more sensational when exposed.
At least when you are watching a magician you are told that it is an illusion, and clowns tell you that they are not serious.
It is a telling point that the actual greek term refers to an actor on stage in Greek drama.

Everyone has the potential for being a hypocrite, but the religious folks look worse doing it. The reason is that they claim to be following a higher power and when they are guilty of hypocrisy, they make the religion as a whole look bad.
That's my opinion, anyway.

Hypocrisy can afflict any human being. The reason it seems to you like only church going people are hypocrites is simply because a lot of the teachings of the church are incompatible with the way many church going people actually live their lives. Believing life to be one way and then acting in a way that is contrary to those beliefs is the definition of hypocrisy.

Certainly, people who don't go to church can be hypocrites. A hypocrite is someone who says one thing and does another. For example Reverend Ted Haggard, who's vile incriminations of homosexuals are well known, admits to having homosexual relations with a male prostitute. A professor teaches flexibility to her students and yet is very rigid and demanding in her own teaching practice. It's easy to be a hypocrite.
