Yeah Plasma's better as far as im aware...not sure what the differences would be when it comes to HD Ready T.V's tho...Hold on a minute...

"Plasma offers you a wide viewing angle with constant picture quality from any seat in the room. Crisp and clear motion picture and high quality colour performance"

And in response to all the plasma haters plasma is just more pimpin man...specially if you're getting larger than 32".

Best: Phillips for LCD, Panasonic for Plasma (although Warfedale does some quality plasma's for respectable prices)

"LCD offers a lightweight compact TV, that can be easily situated in any room in the house. A high brightness picture with a non reflective screen"

So yeah a plasma is the next step up from a LCD.

*3rd Edit* Of course you can play games on a plasma you spoon...christ...

They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Do a LOT of research before purchasing either one. In my case, plasma would not work out. My husband is prone to falling asleep watching TV, which means the TV could be on all night. Plasma TVs only last so long, and when they are out, they are out. No replacing the bulbs (or whatever). You're stuck buying a new one. LCD lamps (bulbs, whatever) can be replaced, and they last more than twice as long as plasma. I calculated that I would have to replace a plasma TV in about 4 years. Sure, LCD is a little more expensive (for now), but it may be worth it in the long run.

I would go for LCD at the moment the plasma one do not impress, ( if I could afford one) oh and check out how much electricity they use, the average is 3 to 4 times more than a normal TV , normal 60 to 100 watts , LCD 200 watts and up.

Yep TuRb0 is correct.
See the same question posted last week under resolved Questions.
Everyone has an opinion, when it comes to picture. But a 42 inch (or Bigger) Plasma Beats a 32 inch (or Smaller) LCD any day.
Would not touch rear projection, as its bad for everything unless you can afford a top of the range model!

In terms of picture quality, yes. If you compare a really good plasma tv to a really good LCD tv, then plasma wins. Check out for example
Pioneer PDP-5000EX, winner of EISA award 2006/2007.

They both have their Pro's and Con's. Sure LCD is better for gaming, but Plasma is better for movies. It depends on how you use the TV.

if it was up to me i would choose lcd although slightly more expensive they are more reliable and better picture quality as an engineer who used to fit plasmas in pubs and hotels i regularly had to reset motherboards and cooling fans as plasmas are prone to overheating .as well as the above if plasmas are turned any more than a 50 degree angle it is possible to damage the system and create blind spots on the screen therefore making them more difficult to transport also copmpanies will not cover for this if collecting and mounting diy therefore added expense again for the consumer

no the lcd is better, the plasma over heats and has a lot of problems, you can also see the pixels on it, but the lcd has a liquid crystal display, so no pixels

Additionally the lcd is better for static images.
