Honestly, I don't think to many Americans hold passports....Most Americans don't travel abroad....We just like to travel here domestically, we have so many wonderful places to visit in our own country, why travel abroad.....? I do have a passport and enjoy traveling abroad...

Not as many as you might think. Generally business people hold passports, same as anybody else doing international business from another country. The majority of regular citizens don't have passports because we don't travel overseas often. Our families, and loved one are living here with us. So there's no need for a passport.

I believe that as a total percentage of their population its very low. Less than 10 percent. And it doesn't matter how well educated they are either. I don't know whether its extreme patriotism that prevents them from travelling or the weak dollar. I have family that emigrated over there at the start of the eighties and they can't believe how ignorant they are of what goes on outwith their own borders. My cousin even had a university professor ask him if people in the UK had television yet - he didn't know it was a Scottish invention they honestly don't get taught that kind of stuff. He thought we all lived in thatched cottages and ran about barefoot. They can be a very narrow minded society - always worrying considering how much of superpower they are

They say that only 10% of the population hold a passport. But they say it like it's a bad thing.

Angela says almost word for of what i would have said but another person was just commenting on the lack of knowledge Americans have of the world outside their own country and i love the Americans and their country but i have to agree so perhaps the reason is exactly the fact they don't need to travel outside USA

why would they need passports - they already own the world.
the only reason to leave the u.s. is if there is some sort of political friction - like rigging elections or going to war on a false premise.
of course that is hardly likely to happen.

Citizenship is the most suitable advantages if you lived many years with permission of the authorities as lawful voters. purely because you married someone doesn't recommend you may grow to be a citizen. If that were the case, shall we haven't any unlawful immigrants contained in the U. S., as all they had to do is marry a US citizen.

carrying passport is not a necessity for Americans travelling overeseas , in some cases, all they need is to carry a rifle , ready to shout " you motherf**kers " when they need local help and kick doors open when they want to look for people.
