think of the different kinds of help that can be given
it can be financial,spiritual ,moral,practical,it can be listening ,it can be sharing a problem,and the context is it global help or is it individual to individual

The first thing to know is what help someone wants. A lot of times people who try to help someone who is handicapped, or someone who is simply old, they end up really insulting them. Just because I am not as young and strong and graceful as you does not mean there is nothing I can do for myself, and generally, a person will prefer to do for themselves what they can do. So simply say, "Can I help?" and pay attention to the answer, and respect it.
There are also ways you can help people through anonymous help, such as volunteering for a non-profit organisation that helps people, or donating money to help them. The best help is anonymous, because then people don't do it just for the gratitude. So if you don't need the tax benefit, donate anonymously. You don't lay a pressure for gratitude on anyone.
It's like the old stories about Santa Claus as a way for adults to give something special to children without forcing them to be "grateful" in a way that they are simply too young to understand. They learn how to be grateful by leaving a plate of cookies and milk out for Santa. Nobody tries to pretend the cookies and the milk are the equivalent of the gifts Santa left -- it's not about the size of the gift, but the heart in it.

Yahoo Answers is a good example of how people can help others ... in the most obscue ways..
Some very strange questions on serious subjects get answered to help someone with a problem.

you can put pictures of vulnerble people on the slide show. ask your audience how we can help....ask the question why do people need help? then offer how you can practically help...you could link to environment....one small step etc....
