It's a shortened version of any name that contains the "nan" sound. (Anne and Nancy, for example.) To find out its meaning, you would have to find the original version of that name. (Similar to how Kate = Katrina = Kathryn.)
It's not a very popular name.

Nan, Nancy, Ann: Original form: Hannah, meaning Grace in Hebrew. Nan in Hindi means Eyes. It is also a name.

Yes, I've only known 1 Nan though. It's a form of Anne - meaning is Grace.
