According to the religious hypothesis called Islam, everything is under God's thumb. Muslim means something that submits to God's will. Technically everything in creation is "Muslim" ie. a subject of God. However, humans and a parallel race of beings called djinn are the only beings that posses free will. Thus, they are the only elements in creation that may be Muslims (submitters to God's will) or Muslims in denial (rejectors of God's will). Hence the other posts indicating Jesus, Abraham and the other such hypothetical and/or historical imaginings listed were "muslims" because they supposedly submitted to God's will in the context of Abrahamic faith.

The Quran suggests Mohammed was from a polytheistic (pagan) Arab people.

Muhammad's story is long and complex. Muslims defer to a compilation of writings about his actions called the Sunnah and others about his life found in Hadith. There are English translations on the net for you to read if you want to do more research.

Religion is wonderful tomfoolery.

I think Muhammad was a pagan until, allegedly, the angel appeared to him and he started preaching Islam to his people. He was the first convert to Islam, then his first wife Kadija. The reason why I think he was pagan is that when he got first visit, he went to the Kabaa, and broke all 360 status that were in there. Those 360 status represented all 360 gods. He told them that was wrong, and broke all of them, and told them they should worship only one God and that is ALLAH, and they should not have a statue for him, that was wrong as well. According to the Quran, his family were the care taker of the Kaaba. If they were not pagan, and they were Muslims! don't you think they would not have 360 status of gods representing the gods! That is what is written in the Quran. Muslims like to make others believe that he was not the first Muslims, but if they read the Quran carefully, it is stated that he was the first convert. In his first five years of preaching, the number of believers were less than five hundred, until he migrated, and then he became he military leader as well as a religious one.

Jesus was Jewish all his life, he never lived as a Christian. Christianity came about because the Jewish people refuse to believe in him, therefore, those who believed in Jesus started to refer to themselves as Christian after Jesus CHRIST, as in Christ like.

Muhammad is considered a great prophet by his people. I don't think those people who got persecuted, killed, and enslaved by him would consider him a great prophet! Would you!!

If Muhammad was or was not a prophet I don't know, but that is what I read about the man. What I read about his life. In my opinion doesn't make a great man, it make him to be a great military leader. His many marriages, his wars, ramage, and the way he treated the Jews and Christians, and he owned people. A great prophet would not own a human being, but he would teach not to own another life. He bought more people than he set them free, and he us to give them away as gifts to his family and friends. Prophet, my opinion, I don't think so.

Muslims:
Nothing I posted was wrong, and it is directly from the Quran. If you don't believe me, then you should read your Quran better. No disrespect to anyone. Only my opinion, and what I read in the Quran. PEACE.

The Prophet Muhammad (p) was neither a Jew nor a Christian but he was ever inclined to God and obedient to Him, and he was not of those who associate gods with the Lord.

The Holy Quran : Chapter: 6 (Al-An`am), Verse:162

[6:162] Say, 'My Lord has guided me unto a straight path - the right religion, the religion of Abraham, the upright. And he was not of those who associated gods with God.

[3:68] Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian but he was ever inclined to God and obedient to Him, and he was not of those who associate gods with the Lord.

The Holy Quran : Chapter: 2 (Al-Baqarah), Verse:136

[2:136] And they say, 'Be ye Jews or Christians, then you will be rightly guided,' Say, 'Nay, but follow ye the religion of Abraham who was ever inclined to God; he was not of those who associated gods with God'

The Holy Quran : Chapter: 2 (Al-Baqarah), Verse:134

[2:134] Were you present when death came to Jacob, when he said to his sons. 'What will you worship after me?' They answered, 'We will worship thy God, the God of thy fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, the One God; and to Him we submit ourselves.'

The Holy Quran : Chapter: 3 (Al-`Imran), Verse:96

[3:96] Say, 'The Lord has declared the truth; follow, therefore, the religion of Abraham who was ever inclined to God; and he was not of those who associated gods with Him.'

This is what George Bernard Shaw (Irish playwright, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, 1925) said about the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him - the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today."

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a Muslim and the last prophet sent by God to preach the message of Islam to all humanity.

Here are a few links that will give you an overview of his life and qualities:

The Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) last sermon:
This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' in Mecca.]
After praising and thanking Allah the Prophet (saws) said:

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib [the Prophet's uncle] be waived.

Every right arising out of homicide in pre-islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that i waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibn al Harithibn.

O People, the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calender in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to forbid that which Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban.

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope of that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belogs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will meet Allah and answer your deeds. So beware: do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me, and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur'an and my Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed Your message to Your people."
