I've been desperately trying to get my mom to allow me to dye the under part of my hair black. My natural hair color is light blonde and it's pretty long, and I think it looks really good when people have blonde hair and a little bit of black underneath. If you're not sure what I'm talking about-- there's a picture at this site you can look at: http://beauty.about.com/od/hairstylephotos/ss/haircol_8.htm But my mom wants to see more pictures of how it will look before I actually do it. So could you please give me the link of a few pictures? Please and thank you to everyone who does it. I'll give the 10 points to the person I can see actually tried. Thank you!!

i dont have a link for you but that is how i have my hair. black on the bottom and blond on the top (and i also have black streaks throught the blond on top) i love it, my mom loves it. (she even did it to her hair last summer) and it's not like GOTH or anything. it is very in style and it has been for a long time. i cant see it going out of style. you'll just have to go to a proffessional hair dresser who will be carefull that when dying the black in it doesn't run into your natural blond. good luck. and tell your mom to lighten up, it's not like you want a tattoo or anything. if you or her dont like it, it can be dyed back right,

If your hair is virgin, meaning it has not been colored already, you can get that using color (dye). You don't have to use bleach. Contrary to other answers here, there is no dye that has bleach in it. Color and bleach are two entirely different things. If you use a brown color with a higher volume developer, 30 or 40, it will lighten your natural color 3-4 levels and deposit the brown (without using bleach). Also, once you lighten it to brown you will never start seeing your black hair through the brown color. It will have been lightened, your natural color pulled out, so there is no black hair anymore. If you bleach a black piece of fabric it doesn't turn black again, it's the same idea. If you already have color on your hair the only way to lighten it is to use bleach. Color cannot lift through color. It wouldn't have to be bleached to blonde though, just a few levels to the darkness you want and then colores over to even out the color and tone. Your hairdresser should absolutely be able to do this without doing highlights like in that first picture. If she/he tells you otherwise find someone who will do it the way you want it.

Since black is the hardest to get of out of blonde hair, I would try a dark brown first...it will come out easier in blonde hair. I would use a warm based brown hair color. L'Orael is great for it. Make sure your hair is deep conditioned first before doing anything. It will make the hair color take better.

It's a very cute style.I don't have a link for pics but it might be easier to convince her if you tell her you ant to use semi-permanent hair color.Manic Panic has a great one in a jar.It lasts for a month and usually has 3-4 applications per jar.It costs about 6 dollars. Its a good way to test the waters.Good LUCK!

I think you should get one of those dyes that wash out in the shower, and then show your mom what it looks like, and maybe she'll see it looks good and let you go permanent. :)
