I do it at my house to bless it. I am not sure why someone have done it around you home but generally I use olive oil(regular olive oil from the store) and have my pastor to pray over it and bless it. Then I bring it home and bless my house with it. I put crosses on all doors and in the corners of every room as I pray and quote different scriptures from the Bible. After I do that, I can feel a serene feeling in the atmosphere. May God Bless
