Find out with this little test:

"If a man also writes with his left hand, as he writes with his right hand, he has committed abomination."

Is this sentence saying..
A) It is abomination for a right-handed man to also write with his left hand
OR
B) It is abomination to be left handed

Since it is obvious that the person is righthanded and says nothing of left handed people, the answer is A. So now look at this sentence and give your answer:

"If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, he has committed abomination."

Is this Bible verse saying...
A) It is abomination for a man that lies with a woman (a heterosexual) to also lie with a man
OR
B) It is abomination to be homosexual

(HINT: This second question is identical to the first one, with only the subject changed)

Neither the Bible nor the Catholic Church says that it's an abomination to "be homosexual."

A homosexual orientation is morally neutral.

But what the Bible clearly condemns -- in both the Old and New Testaments -- are homosexual ACTS.

Bigotry does not apply to people's actions. Bigotry only applies to a person's nationality, ethnicity, or religion.

When one opposes a person's ACTIONS, be they sexual or otherwise, one cannot be found guilty of bigotry.

The Bible is silent on the issue of what causes a homosexual orientation -- the Catholic Church is silent on this issue too.

But the Bible and the Church are both clear in that homosexual ACTS are gravely sinful.

And, again, since we're talking about actions here (and not ethnicity or religion or nationality), the issue of bigotry should not even be coming up. Bigotry does not exist when one judges one's actions to be wrong.

The reason they frowned upon homosexuality back then was because procreation was important. Nowadays there are too many goddamned people on this planet, so homosexuality is really no one's concern.

I am not a bigot. Actually I'm a gay-rights activist.
