My family, and yours, came here learned the language and assimilated into society. All were and still are discriminated against in some circles. The negative connotation to Hispanics, in my opinion, comes from the stigma and reality of many who come here and take advantage of the system. My ancestors came at a time without Social Security, welfare and medicaid. They were forced to earn and provide for their families. They paid taxes, earned incomes and contributed. Over time through hard work and determination we were accepted. The same will happen for other groups, it takes time.

a. America is against ILLEGAL immigrants.
b. America was formed by legal immigrants, although the methods of becoming a citizen have changed.
c. Hispanics account for the majority of illegal immigrants. Mexico accounts for the highest amount, not only because a lot of Mexicans border-jump, but because a lot of illegals pass through Mexico to get to the United States.
d. American Indians came here from Asia and didn't mark their land. Many tribes were also nomadic. Europeans came here and were at first welcomed by the natives. (In some places, the land was even bought from them.) It was this group that founded the American government and country. "Afro Americans" are descended from slaves that were brought over by Europeans and that chose to stay in the states rather then going back to third-world Africa. Most "Latin Americans" are the result of White, Spanish men taking Indian wives. (Producing Mestizos.) In quite a few cases, slaves that fled the states also mixed with the Mestizos, which is how we get black Cubans, black Puerto Ricans, etc. Everyone came from somewhere else.

First, the original blacks that came to the Americas, and various Spanish/French territories where not immigrants but slaves brought by no choice of their own. Second, it is completely wrong for anyone to assume that if your Hispanic, or Asian, middle eastern, etc. that your not a American citizen, and completely legal.

However, the measurements to wart off illegal immigration to this country is legitimate. America, does not have open borders. In every country immigration laws exist. The fact is that while there are illegals that come from countries in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia the majority come from Mexico, and Central America. This is simply due to the close proximity. It has nothing to do with the illegals being Hispanic. If we shared a border with India the response to the illegal immigration would be the same.

I don't have a thing against legal immigrants - only the illegal ones. And the reason it's always about Mexicans is because they are the majority, especially in the southern states. Where I live it's Mexicans as far as the eye can see. They are also the ones who have been spewing hatred for Americans, and demanding rights in a country they don't even belong in. Now on to the last part of your question.....all I gotta say is ..I'm not an immigrant. I didn't come to this country from "somewhere else" I was born here. The illegal aliens here today DID come from "somewhere else" therefore DO NOT belong here.

We're not all against immigrants. In fact, we take in a lot more than almost any country. Illegal immigration is a problem but not all of us view deporting everyone as it would hurt us in a number of ways and cost too much. Building a wall is idiotic. Instead, we should look at a system where our border neighbors could cross to work but then return to Mexico. After a certain period of years working here...and assuming they pay taxes and owe nothing to the government & can take care of themselves or have someone do it, offer residence.

Maybe the real gist of what you mention is mere racism. Some people are okay with immigrants if they look the same as them.

WERE NOT AGAINST IMMIGRANTS LAME BRAIN, WE'RE AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!

Why do you think this is wrong, it all comes down to this, would you want a stranger entering your home and not knowing anything about him. also that stranger is steeling stuff from your house that you worked for, of course America is angry!

I'm not saying all illegals are bad people but the fact remains the same, they cut in line and came here by breaking the law, plain and simple. I don't know of anyone who is against legal immigrants, they make this country, have been for centuries. I'm proud to say that America is one of the only countries with a melting pot of ethnicity.
The fact that people come here illegally is personally worriesome to myself. Even if you argue that a large majority of them that come here are good hardworking moral people, you can not argue that all of them all. What about the percentage of them that are drug lords, gangs, criminals, child molesters. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT WORRY ME MOST. I HAVE THE RIGHT ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER PERSON IN THE COUNTRY TO KNOW THESE STATS. THIS IS WHY WE NEED TO REGULATE THE SYSTEM. BY SNEAKING OVER HERE ILLEGALLY YOU ARE TAKING AWAY THE RIGHTS OF LEGAL CITIZENS!
I understand completely where you are coming from when people judge you like that. I have said time and time again, that the illegal issue has been hurting legal latinos in the country. Because of some bad apples they are ruining it for the majority of latios that are citizens.
I have a lot of friends and neighbors who are hispanic and they are all great people. A lot of people assume that just because your hispanic, your illegal and a criminal. I also know that ALOT OF THE HISPANIC POPULATION, are against illegal immigration for the same reason most of us all are but also because it is giving them a bad name. Just this month, 3 latino busisnesses closed due to no customers. Its a shame. THIS IS WHY THAT ALL LEGAL CITIZENS NO MATTER WHAT RACE MUST STAND TOGETHER AS ONE AND FORCE THE GOVERNMENT TO DO SOMETHING LOGICAL ABOUT THE SITUATION, PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED AND MAD, IT WILL ONLY END IF WE CAN DO THIS.

Wow....I understand what you are saying but I think you are confused w/ the whole inmigrant/illegal issue. I came to the US when I was 2 months old. My parents came here LEGALLY, got jobs, went to school to learn the language, etc. My mom was sick so she had to spend her pregnancy in a different climate, other wise I would have been born here. I became a US citizen the minute I turned 18 even tho in my book I have always been American. My parents insisted we learn both languages, which is an advantage now a days when getting a job...

I agree with everyone else here, we are not against inmigrants, we are against illegal inmigrants. Hard working, tax paying inimigrants are part of what makes us the powerful nation that we are, but those that come here illegally and always complain about how much they hate it here, should just go back to wherever they came from. Living in the US is a priviledge, not a right to anyone who just decides to come here.

I will wholly concede that some people look at those who emigrate from Latin American countries and foolishly and rudely assume they have done so illegally. And some of these people are just plain racist.

But I would suggest that many legal American residents others look at the overburdened social care network of education and public safety services and believe that those who do not are not taxed because because of their non-legal status but use these services anyway are doing so unfairly.

I would suggest that our immigration laws should continue to allow for a reasonable about of legal immigration and ensure that those who immigrate to our country should be paid a legal, taxed wage that helps support the social infrastructure upon which we all rely.

I think you are generalizing a bit on the front that everyone has something against immigrants. I, personally, believe that all most Americans want if for anyone who immigrates, to come into the country live by our laws and speak our language. We arent asking anyone to give up their beliefs or religions, but we do ask that you dont attempt to enter our country only to try and turn it into the country you just came from. With that said, most immigrants do actually do this and unfortunately its the very few who enter the country illegally or the ones who enter legally and then try and impose their laws and religions on us, that give the rest of the immigrants a bad name

Amen! That's what i ask many times. Many American people think everyone is illegal and that everyone is an immigrant except theirselves. They act as if America was given to them by God while it is actually a different story on how they actually got America. I just dont believe some American people. They come here and complain about the immigrants.. I always ask them, arent you a decendant from an immigrant? They look at me as if i got two heads. Its crazy.. Great question..

Do you need the caps lock?

There is no problem with immigrants who came legally. It is those who came illegally and make us pay for their education at the ruination of schools for our own people that we bitterly resent. I couldn't care less what ethnicity they were. I have nothing against Hispanics here legally. It is about respecting our limits and our ability to say how many poor from other countries we want to pay for at the expense of our own people.

Illegal immigration is to legal immigration as a thief is to a guest, or a family member.
