MARMITE is a concentrated yeast extract paste, enjoyed at any time of the day, whether on toast for breakfast, in sandwiches at lunchtime, or as an added ingredient in stews and casseroles.

MARMITE spread is 100% vegetarian, but unlike some vegetarian meals, MARMITE provides an excellent source of vitamin B12. This vitamin helps to prevent anaemia. It also contains a good source of Riboflavin and Niacin as well as an excellent source of Folic Acid.

MARMITE is good news for the nation's slimmers. It contains virtually no fat or sugar. A single 4g serving amounts to only 9kcal/35kJ typical values. MARMITE has a distinctive savory taste, unlike anything else.

It remains a popular food for all the family loved equally by the toddler of the family through to the Grandpa.

marmite contains many of the vitamin B complex - especially B12.

These are water soluble and so any excess that the body does not require is passed out in the urine.

- so you cannot get a vitamin overdose from marmite.

however, 'too much' of anything can be bad for you.

in the extreme - if all you ate was marmite your diet would not be balanced and your health would suffer due to other nutrient defficiencies.

marmite is not considered a 'complete food'.

marmite is quite salty - so you could end up with high blood pressure if you ate 'too much'.

the uk recommended daily maximum intake of salt for an adult is 6g.
according to the label, marmite has 0.44g of salt per 4g serving.

if you ate more than 13.6 servings (or 54g) per day then you would certainly be putting yourself in danger.

I don't see how except for the sodium.
Marmite has useful quantities of vitamins, even in small servings. Sodium (salt) content of the spread is high and has caused concern, but the amount per serving, not the percentage in bulk Marmite, is the significant factor.

I think it's probably good for you - loads of Vitamin E. The Marmite Breath might be the only bad thing!

too much of anything can be bad for you. But you could do worse than marmite as it is a yeast extract (not beef like the meat version called Bovril - origin in Aussie I think). Enjoy!

I think too much of anything is bad for you, but if you're eating it all the time then you'll probably get to a point where you'll be sick of it and stop. I went through a phase of having beetroot sandwiches, but now I only eat it occasionally.
