I have 3 cats, 2 girls(sisters), and a boy. I know that the girls have had a problem with peeing outside of the litter box before. One female had a urinary tract infection that we cleared. The male has never even attempted to try and pee outside of the box. I am 6 months pregnant, and have a room full of baby things. Normally, the room is closed, but it was left open this morning, When I went in the room, the bassinet was peed in. I love my cats and don't want to get rid of them. If this is happening now before the baby, I can only imagine how they will react after the baby arrives. SInce the bassinet will be in our room, when the baby comes, I am afraid that this area where they all sleep now, will have to be off limits when the baby comes. I don't know what to do.

It does sound like they are marking territory. Cats are quite sensitive to change. They know that something is different. My vet told me once that something as simple as a neighbor doing construction outside of the house can make a cat start spraying or marking territory. They are out of sorts. I think once they adjust, they will get over it. Hopefully you won't need to get rid of your cats.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

They are just Marking their territory. Call your vet and see if they can offer some sound techniques to introduce the baby(and it's things) to the cats. They have a very strong sense when there is a pregnancy in the house - a human one or a cat one- and they react quickly to protect what they feel is theirs. I have one female cat that would never come near me, EVER. Not until I was having a miscarriage (I have had several). Whenever there was something wrong with me during the preganancy - she knew and would be right by my side(literally) until things were normal again. It is a sixth sence they must have and for your fourlegged ones - they are adjusting to the big change coming soon.....there has to be a way to make it all work. I am sure you will come up with something. good luck and MON CONGRATS on the new family member!

This is marking behavior, which can be triggered by a change in the routine. The cats can sense that there's a change, and it's about to be a big change for them, it sounds like. You can begin now to adapt them to this change by carrying a doll around the house with you, treat it as though you would your baby when the baby arrives and put it in the bassinet at night. Also, if you can get a tape of "baby noises" to play sometimes during the day. This might help the cats to see that there will be some changes. If they are unwilling or unable to adapt, they're simply going to have to go, unfortunately.

The house has been their territory. Make sure the pee gets cleaned up with enzyme pet cleaner to get all the scent up. Start holding a baby doll to gett them use to you holding a baby and keep them out of the nursery. Before you come home bring something that the baby has worn home so the cats can smell it and get use to the baby's scent.

If they continue peeing after the baby you may need to get rid of one or two.

Congrats on your baby!

I think they did pee on them because they were never allowed in that room before.

As they were able to get in today, they were marking their territory to make sure that the room would be part of their house and remain that way.

jelousy my cats did it too but they wouldn't stop they even peed in my son's crib i finally had to get rid of her cause of it, it isn't healthy for the baby or you for an animal to pee all over it is a behaviour thing and you can't train a cat to stop.
The cat also got as bold as to sneaking in the room and getting into the crib with my son and sleeping on him i had to get rid of her asap you might have to too.

maybe because the cat feels intruded and is trying to mark its territory.
