everybody from Bill O'reilly get their undies in a knot when the stores started saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". If the gift giving and comerce and glitter has nothing to do with the real Christmas, (and I maintain it does not) what do you care how Macys celebrates it's fourth Quarter?

I don't care what they say. Alot of people have a problem with being told they CAN'T say Merry Christmas. It's just a little freedom of speech thing!

I heard a lady on the radio the other day saying that she loves Christmas. She loves the trees, the gifts, the season, Santa, she just wished that they'd take the whole religion thing out of it. HMMM - let's see - the etymology of Christmas - Christ - Messiah - Mass - Celebration -so Christmas directly means the celebration of the Messiah. If secular society wants to celebrate Christmas, I have no problem with that - but don't try and force the Christians to remove the very basis for the celebration. Yes I know that the Christians started the holiday 4 days after the celebration of the winter solstice in order to help new converts in Europe adjust. Yes I know Jesus was probably born sometime in the Spring. However, it is the day we Christians choose to acknowledge our Savior's birth. If you want to celebrate the winter solstice - do it on the 21st/22nd.

The story of Santa comes from the Vienese legend of St Nicholas. I
discovered the legend says he had a companion named Krampus. An
evil spirit! Look it up!
Isn't that just how a devil would think? "Yo, Nick, let's give everybody lots of
presents, and the old keeping up with the Jones's will kick in, and the
financial burden will make them all sick!"

well, American Christians have a very hard time fulfilling Jesus' prophesy that they will be persecuted so they have to come up with something. whining about being dissed on web forums and in chat room and complaining about the deChristing of Christmas is the best they can do.

i think the reason people get bent out of shape over the phrase happy holidays is because it is yet another ploy by secular America to take Christ out of everything including Christmas.
