Not necessarily. My neighbor had, in the words of the doctor, "multiple, massive clots in both lungs" about a year and a half ago. Last week he just finished building a shed in the backyard!

Heparin will not dissolve the clots, contrary to popular belief. Heparin is given to prevent new clots from forming. A persons body will dissolve the clots in time. The key is to keep them from moving.

Not necessarily. They can give medication to dissolve the clots and if she does as doctors tell her to do and takes her medications; she should be okay.
