I passed my Driver's Ed stuff and I'll get my permit in January, but if I don't get a car for myself, I'll have to drive my mom's Yukon, which to me is too big. Is buying a smaller car better for me than driving her Yukon. (And you have to remember, if I get a car, my mom has to put me on her insurance)

A Yukon is too big for you, but only beacuse you don't feel comfortable driving it. You are a new driver and I think a smaller car is better for young drivers. You need to get a reliable car, but don't get a new one cause (no offense) younger drivers get in more accidents. I started out with a Camery. It was the BEST car for me. I am not a fan of american cars so i am biased to Toyotas, VW's, and Hondas for a first time driver. They are safe and least expensive. Hondas are cheaper to fix and run great and for a long time. I'd go for a Honda or Toyota becaue VW is more expensive to fix. Check out websites and such to find the car that is perfect for you! You want to feel safe and comfortable in your car. When you feel safe in you car, don't go driving like a maniac though. Be sure to get a car that fits YOUR needs and NOT your parents. This is a car for you! Good luck and congrats on passing your test :)

If you are not comfortable dring the Yukon you will not be a good driver. Look for a smaller compact car that you and mom can afford. Some times these are donated by Non- profit orgiznations. Have a fun day.

Yes, you need a smaller car. An SUV of any size is dangerous for an inexperienced driver. You and your mom should talk to her insurance agent. They should have information about which vehicles are safer.
