Now before i ask this question, i do not want people to take things the wrong way.
Would taekwon Do be effective on the streets?
Now im saying this as in DEFENDING and fighting back, i dont want to use my skills sensesly because thats just wrong.
If i also did muay thai Kickboxing classes too along with my TKD would THIS be effective on the street????

Grappling is very effective on the streets since most fights go to the ground. Muay thai is also effective.Traditional arts are more for discipline or sport. Anytime you train for something you have an advantage over someone who doesnt train. People will say street fighters are unpredictable and will bite and pull hair but you also can bite and pull hair and you train so to me this gives you an advantage.

Yes. Any Martial Art that has been around a while is effective on the street. Otherwise it wouldn't have survived.
That being said, it depends on the quality of the program. MA in this country is unregulated & people can & sometimes do, inflate their credentials. Some schoold maintain high standards, others don't. Make sure you are in a school with a good instructor & high standards.

Yes and yes, but you have to remember, that practice in class, and a fight on the street are to COMPLETELY different things.

your opponent on the street isn't going to attack you in the same way another student in class is going to attack you, so you have to be ready for whatever your opponent throws at you and act accordingly by blocking and/or countering the attack.

the Muay Thai training will give you more power in both your kicking and punching techniques because that's what Muay Thai primarily relies on strength and power and since it's a lot like boxing, it'll help you with footwork , as well as help you utilize more than just punching of kicking (ie using elbows and knees for devastating close quarters in fighting attacks along with some trapping techniques that're used in conjunction with those attacks)

anything you learn, because you shouldn't limit yourself to one way of thinking, will improve you and help you when it becomes necessary

I hve to say that the majority of TKD schools in the us DON'T train for realistic combat. They do point sparring for competition and almost completely ignore the practical application of the techniques. Of course the same goes for many shools in ALL styles. The first things to look for in a school is how much emphasis they punt on actual REAL application of the techniques, NOT on competition style sparring which is almost useless in a self-defense situation. Finding a school that puts the proper amount of stress on the practical application is difficult...but well worth the time.

With TKD alone? No.

TKD with Muay Thai? Yes. Just be aware of the legal ramifications of your actions. Muay Thai's a good fighting art but lousy for self-defense in a legal aspect. You'd better come up with a good defense for why you kicked out your attacker's knee-cap.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! i am so sick of tkd making people think they can defend themselves, let me tell you i have adriend who studies tkd, a fter a few judo classes i kicked his butt easily, tkd doesnt teach grappling a key in street fighting, i mixed lung shou pai and judo, you need to remember the path that is broad and spacious leads to destruction, while the on that is cramped and narrow leads to NOT GETTING YOUR BUTT KICKED!!! just stick with muay thai, and drop that pretty tkd

ummm tkd? tkd enjoys a reputation of "give us your money and well give you a black belt" soooo... if ur school is 1 of those.... id say the technique is lacking because in the words of this 1 tkd teacher "i dont care how you do it as long as you do it" (to a juniour instructor) but ey yours could b a good 1.... in wich case thats more of a matter of u than the art.. if u strive 4 good technique and pratice alot... u sound like that type... i guess

I would have to see your training to judge the street validity.
As you have mentioned that your school has scheduled testing every four months I am a bit skeptical.

The quality and frequency of your training are going to far outweigh the style you train in. Is your training effective, do you work out daily, do you exchange hands with other practitioners?
Do you carry your art with you everywhere you go?
Remember this, there is no best art, only a best artist.

sure especially muay thai but i would reccomend u study some form of groung fighting such as brazillian jui jitsu, sambo or even judo, because remember that most street brawls will end up on the ground and most untrained in ground fighting will panic when that250 lb guy is sitting on ur chest punching u in the face.
