It might not have anything to do with the media player at all. A CD can only burn as fast as the CD burner can go. I think that your problem is more likely to be related to the player - 2x burn speed vs. 16x vs. 32x burn speed (not read speed). Nero is pretty much the standard when it comes to burning software but, for the most part, the speeds seem to pretty consistently tied to the burn speed on all of them.

The burning speed from the burner is the limit, converting MP3 into wave depends a lot on the software, there are real fast ones, but the quality is another issue.
Command line programs are the fastest but not user friendly.
With converting the speed of your computer is an issue, and the kind of operating system you are running.

try nero-burn i found this program still the fastest yet, iburned 23 songs and it took only 2 minutes and forty seconds you have to pay for the program, but there are so many additional features it's worth every penny. The time it takes to burn your songs also depend on how much memory and disk space you have on your computer,so it could vary, but it is still faster than windows own burner. You can make your own video cd's,design your own labels, the list goes on,give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Nero does a fairly quick job and comes with most computers already installed. However, the speed of your CD/DVD drive has the most to do with speed.

The Speed of your CD-Rom is the biggest factor in how fast you can burn. Then the size of the files you are burning.
