JJ- its not the same thing! some apples are red, some green, same thing with grapes so that would just cause confusion!

It is called a yellow in some countries and just got a "nick name" from the english translation.
The Dutch word for banaba, is bananengeel or bananengele, "yellow" so they actually are called Yellows, just not in english.

the same reason why an apple isn't called red or a grape isn't called green.

Oh, can you imagine!! Then we'd have to call a lemon a "round yellow", a pepper a "squarish yellow", a cucumber a "long warty green", a runner bean a "long flat green" .... and where would it all end??? I'm confused already. *chuckle*

haha, inddedy so, that would make sense wouldnt it!

there is nothing stopping you calling it a 'yellow' if you wish, actually making up new names for things is amazing fun.
