ok so my bf and i had been dating for about three months...we decided to break up because he needed some time to get his head on and figure everything out...he was with his previous gf for 3 years...and that was about a year ago...she cheated on him with 3 of his best friends...so he has been through alot...but i dont know if he is being real with me about everything...im not sure what to do or think because he says he loves me and still wants to be with me and he thinks that we can make a realacionship work but he wants to wait a while to get back together...and idk if he is messing around with other girls and stuff and if he is i guess i cant do anything about it cuz we arent really together right now ...idk what to do

You need to ask yourself if he is worth waiting for, how long your willing to wait, and whether you can trust him in the meantime.

if he has been cheated on before i don't think that he would do it cause he knows how it feels. Maybe he truely does like you and needs time to think because his last realationship was so bad. He is probably scared.

you need to ask him if this breakup is a clean can hookup with anyone breakup. Once that is established then I think you know what you are going to do.

You need to ask him... Ask him directly if he is seeing anyone else? Because if he is... Would you really want to go back to him?
