Rather meet someone in a bar or a club. When it happens there are several things about it that I prefer. First of all you are at first complete strangers, there's plenty to ask and to say, you can flirt and use things like eye-contact and body language to show that you like the other person. In this environment the "rules of engagement" are pretty easy to follow, if someone comes up and talks to you, buys you a drink and dances with, exchange numbers meet other friends and all that stuff.
How ever if you're meeting with someone you met over the web, not only is it a bit of a drastic change in communication, but expectations are uncertain on both ends, you've already done the whole "what's your name, where you from" intro, so that ice breaker (cuz one is needed when meetin in person for the first time) is gone and I think it can be more awkward and uncomfortable than meetin someone brand new and winging it rather than someone you kinda know but kkinda don't.
I wouldn't know where I stood or what was expected ya know.
Is that makin any sense. I read it over again and I'm not sure z: S

i think some people feel easier meeting after talking on the Internet, remember a lot of people now have kids so this is handy for them, its a good way to make friends and chat, however i think its better to meet in a bar , when you can flirt and have a laugh with your mates , everyone has an opinion ,

Most definately the internet! On the internet you can really get to know someone before you meet them, and cultivate a relationship. At a bar, everything is so spontaneous..I don't think that approach works very well unless it's for a one-night stand.

No, since I don't frequent bars I wouldn't, I might meet them in a coffeeshop though or in the food court of a local mall, someplace public. I have met many people from online in person.

If you meet a person in a bar, you see them face to face and on the internet, it is sight unseen, a picture just doesn't cut it!

Obviously meeting someone in person is better than any online relationship ever could be. But you can see where the attraction is. People who are really shy are able to hid behind their screennames and become people they wouldn't normally be in an actual social situation.

Even though the internet is great. To go out to a decent place and socialize, you see people and can talk to them face to face and its not so fake, here you can be anybody you want to be, and lets face it some don't want to be themselves on the net.
