I have a smallish one on one foot, not sure of the angle, but it's hurting more and more all the time. I'm wondering what people's experience is with the surgery, recuperation time, and espesh, can you wear high heels after the healing is complete.

I've had one on each foot--one was much more involved than the other. Recovery depends on the severity of the problem.
Regardless--what a relief to no longer have a burning sensaton by a mere bed sheet touching the bunion and to be able to buy attractive properly fitting shoes.
Yes, you will be able to wear high-heels after several months. But, please rethink the need for them. There is no guarantee the bunion will not return whether it was caused by abuse or hereditory factors. So, please don't take your feet for granted and don't abuse them.
Good luck and a speedy recovery.

I too have had a slight bunion for many years, but just experienced more pain this last year - I am currently recuperating from a bunionectomy. I used our small local hospital - they did a very good job with the outpatient process - I checked in at 10AM & was released at 2:30PM. I came home & sat in front of the TV & was doing really well until midnight - the anasthesia wore off from the foot & it started to throb & swell. The doctor told my husband it could happen & told him to loosen the bandage & cut a small portion of it to relieve any pressure from swelling. Day two is much better - swelling has come down & not much for pain - I'm just using Ibuprofen. So far I would do it again - will see in a month from now.
