There are many drugs. I can suggest you, but why do you want to take. What is your problem. It is not advisable to take sleeping pills or tranquiliser or sedetive pills, as you will get adicted to it andyou lif in the long run will become miserable. You will not be able to sleep without pills. There many side effects like depression etc.All sedatives can cause physiological and psychological dependence when taken regularly over a period of time. When dependent users decrease or end use suddenly, they will exhibit withdrawal symptoms ranging from restlessness, insomnia and anxiety to convulsions and death. When users become psychologically dependent, they feel as if they need the drug to function although there is no biological dependence. In both types of dependence, finding and using the drug becomes the focus in life. Both physical and psychological dependence can be treated.
Some of the names of the bills are as under:
Antidepressants
mirtazapine (Remeron®)
trazodone (Desyrel®)
Barbiturates
secobarbital (Seconal®)

Benzodiazepines ("minor tranquilizers")
alprazolam (Xanax®)
diazepam (Valium®)

risperidone (Risperdal®)
ziprasidone (Geodon®) (It may make some people tired, while causing insomnia in others)

I request you to see your physician and tell your problem and he will try to solve it with alternative medicines. If he finds you should have pills for sleeping he will give. Best of luck-.

The most potent sleeping pill would be the one that works the best for individual it is prescribed for. There are many on the market but not all work for eveyone the same. Also some people get that hangover effect from some meds and not from others. Not sure why you are asking what the most potent sleeping pill is because everyone is going to feel it is a different med than the previous poster.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!
