Such as if some guy is a serial rapist? Or some CEO of a major corporation, knowingly releases a defective product that injures and kills many people? or a CEO that decides to dump harmful chemicals in the back lot of his company causing thousands of people to develope cancer and other health issues over the course of 5 to 10 years? or A military commander makes a risky and unnesseccary battlefield maneuver during combat getting several of his men killed? A medical worker accidently infects 300+ people with HIV? A Drunk driver that hits and kills a person?
When would suicide be acceptable?

I am not suicidel. Just wondering, because all those incidents that I mentioned, are true or nearly true. And the people who were responsible did commit suicide.

NEVER !!!!!
It does not matter what circumstances are involved, suicide is for people who can not deal with the reality of life, and what they have done with it.
Some of the above mentioned people are sick and delusional, some were just doing their jobs. BUT none of them HAD to do what they did, they were just to weak to stop it for various reasons.
They all need to learn to live with what they have done and try to somehow TRY to correct it, wether just through seeking help or by actively helping society to prevent situations they have caused.
eg - A heroin addict that has beaten an elderly person for money, stolen from people and lied and cheated to his/her family saying one day (f**k the junk I have had enough) and after going through the agony of quitting, then turning around trying to help others through the same process, speaking at schools and in public about the dangers etc etc.
NO suicide is NEVER acceptable. Women abort lives, babys are still born, innocent children are knocked down by cars - the list goes on - then for someone to make mistakes with the life that they have and decide to commit suicide to fix them is just a SELFISH act and cruel to the people that have tried to either help or support them no matter how bad their mistake or crimes might have been.
Criminals could hand themselves in and people that may have cost a life through mistake could appologise for this to the families involved.
To close this topic - We are all human and sometimes go the wrong way or do the wrong thing but we should never waste the valuable thing we possess known as life. To many sick peolpe want it for others to throw it away.

It depends what you mean by "acceptable". It is always illegal and always wrong according to the bible.
In my opinion, I don't think a person should ever give up hope because you just never know what is going to happen tomorrow. I have seen too many instances where my life and other people's lives have changed for the better by just one small unexpected thing or decision.
I do think if someone is terminally ill they should feel like they have the right end it before the pain is unbearable or before they are bed-ridden or in a vegetative state.
The situations you are talking about mostly involve living with guilt. In most of those situations they would be better served by trying to volunteer or do some type of work where they felt like they were making up a little for their mistake. Killing yourself over a mistake or a bad decision would only cause more people pain and would seem like the selfish thing to do.

Well I think it's acceptable whenever you feel like it is.
Christians would have a bone to pick with me on that one though because the biggest sin is despair, so they're not going to bite. If you infect 300 people with HIV/AIDS look on the bright side, it wasnt 3,000.
Society has put suicide in a bad light, but if you truly feel thats the way you will feel most happy, go for it.
Sydney Carton, A Tale of Two Cities-
"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known."

The ONLY time I have ever heard of an acceptable suicide is in the case of imminent death, such as people jumping to their death when the towers were burning during the 9/11 terrorist strike on the World Trade Centers.
The others you mentioned need to stand and face the music and WE need to work on forgiving them. WHICH IS HARD.
Peace.

In all the "instances" you mention the driving emotion is Guilt. Are you asking if it is ok to feel guilty and kill yourself???
In my opinion it is ok to kill yourself at any time. But I do not recommend it. It appears that anyone that commits suicide comes back ( reincarnation) with the same problems that they left with and still have to find a way to work it out.
Suicide is the easy way out. Dealing with your problems is harder but works much better in the long run. After all you can't run from yourself... you will just keep bumping into you.

Sure why not we don't need people like that in the world. And besides someone like a serial killer would be given the death penalty anyway....people seem to think killing them is ok but them commiting suicide isn't...who cares as long as they are gone?

I think there are times when suicide is acceptable such as being terminally ill. But all of your reasons are just one BIG reason, people trying to acoid JAIL TIME. You do the crime, you do the time.

No. Suicide is never acceptable. It is a sin and a sign that you have given up and that you dont believe that GOD can get you our of the situation you feel you need to take yourself out of this world to resolve. Its also selfish, because someone in this world loves you. In cases of criminals, GOD still has the last word. Often times criminals are just seeking help.

Here where I live..... a guy went to his work one day, walked into a meeting of the leaders of the company he worked in with a gun, and shot all of them. This guy was Japanese, and I remember that it was written in the newspaper that the Japanese community wanted him to commit harakiri to save the family's honor. He never did.

No suicide is not the answer. You were put on this earth for a specific purpose and when you die is not yours to decide so suicide is not the answer.
