Okay... answering the questions...

Oldest known organized religion: Hinduism... Christianity is a very very VERY young religion.

The first Christian organization was the Universal (catholic) church... which today would be the Greek Orthodox. There was a split early on in Christianity after the fall of the Roman Empire... that started over were the pope should be from, Rome or constantinopal- in short they split into the Greek Orthodox and the Roman Catholics..... time passes the renaissance comes around, Martin luther starts the Protestant movement... time passes the Protestants can't get alone with each other so they form countless denominations, baptists, methodist, lutherin, etc...

As for which is from the teachings of Jesus of nazareth... probably none of them. Those died with the Gnostics in Egypt during the rule of the Emporer Constantine. He had them all killed so that no one would argue with his veiw of God.

The origination of the church was Jesus Christ who said "I will build My church" and that is the origination of it. Christ next established the apostles as the foundation of The Church and they were to take it and spread it to the whole world. They also became the writers of the New Testament which is the teaching of the Christian church. The early church was mostly Jews but not exclusively and not for long. The original church and its development is written in the Book of Acts, but is too detailes to deal with here. You can read the book yourself in an hour or so. Very early in the church denminationalism began and is mentioned in the first chapter of 1 Corinthians. Christians were dividing and one was saying I am of Paul, another I am of Apolos, and I am of Cephas etc. Paul wrote that letter to condemn it right from the start. However it continued to grow until it became what it is today. They all come from different concepts. Some are named after a doctrinal issue like the Baptists who get it from baptism. but not from John the Baptists, that was a totally different type of Baptism. Pentacostals got it from Charles Fox who was trying to convince people that the experiences he and Agnes Osmond had in 1901 were the same as what happened at Pentacost, which is totally false, so it is really deceptive. Many are named after a man who they are following, such as Luthernism. Some after an event such as the Reform churches or the United Church. There are a great many that are formed to do away with denominationalism trying to give the idea that we are all just christians, but these always develop into a denomination of their own, such as the Christian Church, The Brethren Movement, The Church of God, all trying to get rid of denominationalism. Catholics use the name because it means 'universal' and they would like to think that they are the true universal church, but protestants don't accept that for a second. I'm afraid denominationalism is here to stay.

The original followers of Jesus were in fact Jews it is correct, but no it was not the first organized religion. We cannot be sure what was, apparently evidence has came out that strangely enough it was Buddhism but I do not believe this. Many different people before these religions started thought of their own beliefs so we cannot be sure of which one it was. So say a certain person spoke to that God so it started on a particular day but this was normally lies as the religion was already around before it. All the Christian denominations came from Jesus as it spread through through the Roman Empire all the way round the world. Jesus was a real person after all and he did cause it all to happen fraud or not. However as many think that the Baptists came from John the Baptist it is nearly true. It did come from him as well as the Hebrew word from what their ideas of life were based on. Anyway good look.

The original teachings of Jesus was for the Jews first & since most of the Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah, Then it came to the Gentiles. The Apostles of Old is the true teachings of the one TRUE FAITH. Acts 2:38-44 & yes the Baptists got their name from John the Baptists & that is how far they ever went with True revelation,

History could not be clearer. The first Cristian Church obviously would have to have a historical record in every century back to the Apostles. The Catholic Church is the only Church that meets that basic requirement. No other church even comes close. There are documents by the Catholic Church and documents about the Catholic Church, by that name, in every time period from the present day back to the earliest years of the 2nd Century. The earliest existing written account is the writings of Ignatius, Catholic bishop of Antioch, who knew the Apostle John personally, and who wrote of The Holy Catholic Church in the year 107. There is no historical record of an Orthodox Church until the 11th Century, no record of a Protestant Church until the 16th Century, and no record of the Baptist branch of Protestantism until the 17th Century. That's history. If you have to deny history to hang onto your beliefs, maybe you need to take a hard look at those beliefs and see what matters more - what you feel the need to believe, or the plain truth.

Jesus was a Jew. He was born under the law of Moses, lived under the law, and died under the law. He came only to "the lost sheep of Israel".

It is true all the disciples and early believers were Jews. But it was a small number of people. The Jews in general rejected Jesus as their Messiah.

So God calls upon Saul of Tarsus (Acts 9)...who became Paul, who wrote much of the New Test. He brought the gospel to the Gentile world. And many believed and were saved. And churches were started.

But leave it to man, to wonder from Biblical truth and turn simple salvation in Christ into a religion filled with all kinds of junk! Each denomination with their own style of junk.

Actually, not all denominational splits are bad. Many have broken away from certain denominations in an effort to get back to Biblical Christianity. The reformation, the evangelical movement, etc. were attempts to get back to the Bible, away from "religion". Eventually, however, each will drift back to "religion"--taking their eyes off Christ. Then, you guess it, a few will break away again wanting to get back to Christ and the Bible.

The TRUE CHURCH, according to God, is simple: those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

I personally like to say that baptist are descendants of the first Christians. Catholicism didn't start until a pagan man by the name of Constantine made the religion mandatory by law in Rome. so all the pagans in Rome had to convert or die by the sword of the pagan Constantine. These Catholics started calling the original Christians Anabaptist(re baptizers) We would baptize people again because there is no where in the Bible that tells us to baptize someone who has not become saved, so after they are saved we would baptize them again. We know these Anabaptist to exist well before the protestant reformation. We eventually just started calling ourselves Baptist.

God Bless

There is one Christian Church.. All the believers of Christ are Her members.Gentiles started to enter the Church in the ministry of the Martyr Stephen. As far as ritual and church government gos there are many different ideas on how to do that.. That is what has caused the different denominations. But these different groups are one when it come to salvation and the nature of God. Now the Baptist part of your question is different.. No the name was given to a group of Christians that preform another baptism other than the one the Catholic church preformed on babies. They started it by calling them re-baptizers.. It was shortened to baptist... Jim

Not all Baptists consider themselve Christians.

There are pockets of Christians in Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, Iran that date back to the days of JEsus.

The religions we see the most came from the PAgan Constaintine who organized it in 300 AD, since it's the most organized and popularized, it gets the most notice, but it may not be the oldest or most original.

The Catholic Faith. Catholic even means Universal. This is the faith that was handed down from Jesus to the Apostles and through the ages. People can SAY just about anything. I laughed when I read the first Christian faith was Buddhist, but, actually that is just as funny as some of the other answers. The truth is the truth. The Holy Catholic Church is the Bride of Christ. She is Holy because he makes her that way. It is nothing really to do with us it is HIS holiness.
