People fear what they don't understand, and religious organisations are no different. To make matters worse, they create a cyclical sense of 'moral outrage' that feeds on itself. It's not the fault of the 'ideas' behind the religion, but the falacies of humans themselves...
The fact is, if you can find love in a consentual relationship with somebody who loves you back, who gives a rat's butt what you do?
(I've always laughed at the inconsistancies. I think it's a hoot that Catholics let a celibate old man in white dress dictate correct sexual behaviour...)

You're a little confused. No Christian is supposed to condemn anyone. That is for God only. But Christians believe, and live by, the word of God, the bible, which teaches that homosexuality is a sin. By the way, so is adultery, murder and idolotry. A bible believing Christian will not condone anything that is sin, and that includes the things we do and need to repent of.

Intolerance is necessary to keeping a religion going in the long term.
Remember that religions persist because they're able to attract and retain large numbers of adherents. A religion could pursue just accomplished, sane, smart people of strong character, but there simply aren't enough of those people to maintain a religion. Religions HAVE TO pursue people who frankly don't have much in the way of positive qualities.
Religions ask something of their adherents, and if a religion is to persist, it needs to offer something back. The standard offering - a good life after death - is a moderately strong incentive, but because they can't actually deliver, it's not as strong as a real incentive would be. The typical real incentive is to offer a sense of being "special" in this life. That means either building up the believers or tearing down others, or both. Since tearing down others is much easier, it becomes a key to religions' persistence.

The word in your question should not be "some." It should be "all!" I know that might seem a bit harsh but from a life of experience I can testify to the truth of it. The only thing that they change is who is "us," and who is "them."
hpotter has it right as well, not just Xtians.
Paul S has a good point as well, the only small addition I would like to add is the need to compete for market share.

Tolerance does not mean you have to agree with everything. You can disagree and still be tolerant. As for homosexual, we do not condemn anyone. The word of God states who will go to heaven and who will not. We don't make the rules. I can disagee with a homosexual and still love them and be friends with them. I cannot compromise the word to please those around me. Your defining
intolerance as anyone who will not agree with me. If that is the case then you are intolerant

And what Bible do you read that says we are to accept everyone?
1 Corinthians 15:1-13
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
Do you need to also see where God has condemned homosexuality? Jim

what do you mean by christian *religions*? there is only one christian religion. I don't hate homosexuals, I disagree with what they're doing because it's totally against God! It's totally wrong of those christians to condemn the homosexuals! Instead we should pray for them so that they can become straight again-

It is not just Christian religion that does this. Almost all religions do. But people don't seem to understand (or don't want to understand) that when it comes to intolerance, it comes from human beings, not religion. Religion it just catalyst to justified Human Beings f-ucked up ways. People use to use religion to justify slavery. So don't blame this all on Christianity.

You seem to equate by no ability telling somebody whilst they're incorrect with tolerance. If a determine by no ability corrected a baby, the baby would not stay long adequate to realize adulthood. they might ingest poison as a baby or run into site visitors as a youthful baby. additionally, maximum followers of any faith do no longer stay as much as its standards, distinctly the requirement to be sort. yet being sort to those who stay very distinctive life does no longer mean you're able to invite them into your loved ones or sacred places. you're sort to them in the customary public areas, and help them whilst they're in prefer.

Because they do not follow the words of Jesus where he said that we should love one another unconditionally, accept our brothers and focus on worshipping the Lord.
