I was given a new camera from a friend of mine who didnt want it anymore and was moving. So now I have this camera that I dont have any of the papers on and I dont have anything telling me how to get the pictures off. Can I plug the little memory chip into the computer and get them off that way? And if so how can I erase all the evidence of me doing this? The reason I ask is because I want to put some pics on my web page and dont know how. Also I am doing all of this at work and its not exactly ok. If anyone can explain to me how to do this I would be forever grateful...

If you don't have the USB cable (and software) that originally came with the camera, yes, take the memory card out of the camera and insert that into the computer. If the computer doesn't have a slot for memory cards, you can buy one in the form of a card reader (about $10) and hook that up to the computer.
Then, in Windows Explorer, transfer the contents of the memory card onto your hard drive.
From there on, you can integrete the pictures into your webpages and upload them as you normally would.
As far as leaving traces, if you have a nazi IT department, don't take any risks and do everything from home. I doubt that they monitor the copying of pictures, but uploading webpages by FTP might raise a flag. More likely than not however, they've simply blocked in advance everything they don't want employees doing, and all the other stuff will fly under their radar, so to speak.
Oh, and companies like Nikon have free downloads of user manuals on their website.
