Go to an art supplies store (Michael's is a large one in our area) and you will find all kinds of kits and drawing material for that amount of money. It will be nicer than the box store things and will seem more special. Good luck with it.

When I pick an angel from the angel tree, I like to think about something the child wouldn't get ordinarly. The parents probably don't have a lot of money, so he would probably like some "real" art supplies. I would probably look for a book on drawing from Michaels a craft store that would appeal to a boy. My son used to have one on how to draw superheros. That will probably take $15-20. You can get a sketch pad and a few artist pencils with the leftover $5-10 easily

oh there are some great stuff at roses and target for crafts, if he likes to draw people buy a sketcher with sketch paper, and buy some of the nice pencils. My mom bought me that when I was young, the pencils were precious to me, because they helped me define my drawlings

Nice drawing paper (no cheesy newsprint), 2B drawing pencils (one or two), tortillions (blending tools), and gum erasers...

I think all could be purchased for $25...try Michael's or Dick Blick
