its always better to go to the salon and get it done professionally, it just comes out better, do you really think those women in the diy dye adverts actually did their own hair? Of course not. If you really don't want to go to a salon then get the highest quality dye you can, but don't expect the best possible results

I'd go to a salon if you can afford it as they know what they are doing and you won't go khaki - trust me, I've done it and it isn't a good look! But if you are determined to go it alone try Clairol Nice and Easy. They do lots of different shades and they don't ruin your hair like some can. Check out the chart on the back of the packet to see what colour result you can expect from your natural colour. Another option is to get more highlights put in, then you look blonde anyway but it isn't such high maintenance. Bleach does harm your hair whatever precautions you take so highlighting is often the best option. Not many people look good completely blonde with a block colour if nature didn't intend it that way. Highlights tone down the severity of the colour and look more natural. Good luck whatever you decide tho! x x

Doing an all over blonde at home is quite dangerous as you may well end up orange. Much better to bite the cost and get it done professionally if its what you really want. A good colourist will be able to recommend the shade that suits you best and ensure it either looks natural or a statement - depending on what you want.

If its a cost thing, most salons need models and you can get it done at a fraction of the cost. It will be a junior that does it, but they will be supervised by someone very senior. Which basically means you get the expertise without the cost.

Please go to the salon. The home kits are not made for dark hair to go blonde, only light brown hair to go blonde...they're not reliable, and I tried to go blonde using one, and ended up going a horrible orange shade. My hairdresser thinks home colourants should be banned or come with a severe warning risk, cos the peroxide's in the blonde's aren't strong enough to turn dark hair light.

My hair is dark brown too, and I had to have it corrected after it went orange, but I then grew it out and went dark again. I went blonde again about six months ago, but it took a while to get it how I wanted it...and this was with a reputable salon! The key is to tell the stylist that you want to be VERY blonde, and tell her not to use 3 or 6%, but instead to go for a mix of 9 &12%, as that's the only way you're hair will lift and be an nice light shade of blonde, otherwise it will be orange and brassy.

I have black hair and colored it blond for a couple of years. The best way I have found was to go to a salon because your hair will come out completely blond. When you use store color, it will take about 2 or 3 applications. You also have to wait a week or two in between colors, or else you will fry your hair out and it will literally come out. If you decide to go that route, buy hair oil treatments and great conditioner and use it until your next color. One hair color product is just as good as another, so buy the cheapest. Be prepaired for scabs on your head too, it's just burning from the chemicals. They aren't huge, just little and will go away soon.

i am a profesional hairdresser and the best advice i can give you is go to a salon but DO NOT go into a salon telling your hairdresser which peroxide or colour to use. just tell her/him what outcome you would like and ask if it is possible. pick a salon which is popular and by that i mean one that is known through word and mouth, dont think the more expensive it is the better it will be, you normally only get charged extra for the salon to look posh. if you do go ahead and do it yourself i can guarantee the outcome will be orange and the only solution would be to dye your hair back to dark brown and your hair could possibly be to damaged then to put your hi lites back through.

It's best if you go to a salon, I have dark brown hair and once i asked my daughter to lighten it and my hair went orange and blonde. It's because dark hair has red in it. More importantly it didn't even look nice blonde because even though i'm white, my skin colour was wrong for lighter coloured hair, so please be careful.

Why do you want to change your hair. Most people will be able to tell, also it might not look as natural. Also fake blonde hair is hard to maintane because we turn green, greys are easy to see, and the roots come out easily. Trust me i know someone brown too. She had it blonde fpr 13 years, and she dyes it every few months because the roots are so noticably bad.

just dye it... if your hair is dark brown it wont come out light blond at first wait a few days and do it again and it'll be a lighter blond. I've never heard of that stuff but i've been dying my hais since i was 14 (20 now) and my hair is fine just make sure you use the conditioner that comes with it and use it as directed and you'll be okay

that's punctiliously bogus. Sorry to sound so severe, yet there is not any way possible which you would be able to alter your organic hair via utilizing a hair shade. only impossible!! What has occurred is that in the time of each and every of the time of colouring your hair (no longer dyed, please) you have forgotten what shade you initially had. i've got seen it ensue many circumstances. in spite of a hair pattern taken contained in the initiating, all of us swears they was once lighter. no longer so. As you become previous, your hair will clearly grow to be darker. yet lots of the time, as a blonde, your hair is so broken (and as a result dropping a brilliant sort of shade) which you think of you're lighter than you incredibly are. you basically see the final shade... no longer your roots. yet once you enable your hair to advance out extremely, without the wear, you will see your genuine shade. and you're stunned at how darkish that's.... once you believed you have been lighter. shop colouring your hair some greater years and you may nicely be stunned at each and every of the white coming via. that's not from colouring... that's only the kind you're clearly. enable all your hair shade advance out and notice what shade you would be. yet hair shade applications can in no way impact the colour your hair grows out. It basically variations what's outdoors the exterior.. no longer what's interior.
