In KJV of Revelation, John writes that Jesus tells the Church of Laodicea, to "buy of me gold tried in the fire that thou mayest be rich". Any ideas on what gold tried in the fire is?

Hello friend: Gold tried in the fire is a metaphor for purity or holiness. In it's natural state, when gold is mined, it contains impurities (specks of dirt; of other metals, other substances). To have pure gold, you melt it. Specks of dirt are consumed and since the various elements and substances have different boiling points they can be removed. At the end of the process the gold will be pure.

Laodicea was a city that boasted of its rich commerce. There were many proud, rich people living there. The message to the people of that Church is that true riches are not gold (money or material possessions). Holiness is the only treasure worth having.

The Laodicea church types out this last church age, Buy of me GOLD tried in fire is this, Your Faith will be tested & If you truly have the Spirit of God then we will be overcomers. The Gold is your Faith, The Fire is test & Trials, You can also read 1st Peter 1:7 That the trial of your Faith being much more precious than of Gold that perisheth though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise & honour & glory at the apperaing of Jesus Christ. Also James 1:3 Also 1st Cor. 3:12-15

First off, The King James version is one of the worst Bibles you can buy. So many things were changed to please a king, that is wrong and blasphemous! Secondly, if you read the book or Revelation, and look at it in historical context, you will see that it is really nothing more than Anti-Roman propaganda. It should have been left out of the cannon. Most respectable pastors, reverends and other holy men throw it out as it conflicts with the vision of Jesus being a Prince of Peace. In the end, Revelation is not an important book and should not have been included in the bible.

"In Transit" means that its halfway to your destination. If it says "Out for Delivery" it means it should be delivered that day. And if it says "Delivered" it means its either in your house because someone else brought it inside you just didn't know OR it could be outside on your porch. This is my FIRST time buying something from Amazon and it said that me shipment was "In Transit". I can't wait to get my item!!! Hope this was helpful! PLZ like and comment! I would LOVE to hear your thoughts!

"These people were poor; Christ counsels them to buy of him gold tried in the fire, that they might be rich. He lets them know where they might have true riches and how they might have them. First, Where they might have them-from himself; he sends them not to the streams of Pactolus, nor to the mines of Potosi, but invites them to himself, the pearl of price. Secondly, And how must they have this true gold from him? They must buy it. This seems to be unsaying all again. How can those that are poor buy gold? Just as they may buy of Christ wine and milk, that is, without money and without price, Isa. 55:1. Something indeed must be parted with, but it is nothing of a valuable consideration, it is only to make room for receiving true riches. "Part with sin and self-sufficiency, and come to Christ with a sense of your poverty and emptiness, that you may be filled with his hidden treasure.''"

First, you need to understand that Laodicea is a dead church. They are not believers. Their DEEDS are worthless like lukewarm water, thus He will spit them out of His mouth. That's why He says they are "wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked."

Jesus would never tell His real followers (those in Christ) any of these things.

Therefore, His call to them--BELIEVE! "Buy from me" means believe in me. "So you can become "rich"--spiritually rich. True believers "possess all things". "So you can cover your nakedness"--their sinfulness. True believers are clothed in the righteousness of Christ. "Eye salve so you can see"--they are blind. True believers can see.

So, Jesus stands at the door and knock...waiting for them to receive Him as Lord. Jesus is offering salvation to those in Laodicea. He uses the symbols of gold, rich, cloths, eye salve and eating with Him to illustrate what is available to those who are truely born again.

Blessings.
