I was in an e-mail relationship who seemed just perfect for me - he was good-looking (according to his photograph), articulate and witty and I was looking forward to meeting him. I asked for another photo and was shocked to find that he was at least 4o pounds heavier and 15 - 20 years older than shown in the previous photo. What is the point of anyone doing this?

People will always post the best photo they have online. I mean, would you post a photo of yourself which looks old and fat and sorry? Also people will post photos which have been digitally enhanced. Just be more careful the next time round, or perhaps, be less superficial?

Vanity? You can't tell me you haven't picked a photo where you look good, right? For the most part, they are just trying to put a good show on to increase their chances...

(The photo on my homepage and profile is about 2-3 years old.)

People are affraid you won't like them as they are. They want to look better. Sadly they are right.
