Depends on how good your TV is - a cheap one will be rubbish.. a good one will be better - My friend has a Sony HDTV and I was blown away by the picture quality on a "normal" channel however they now have SKY HD and I can't say I would pay the extra subsription fee at the moment...

You will only receive HD picture clarity on an HD channel,hence the alternative HD channels offer,whatever youre watching has to be HD enhanced otherwise itl only be in the normal format most televisions are normally in.
But otherwise if youre watching an HD channel on a HD tv the picture is really amazing,definately recomend it!!

i have hdtv it works pretty good almost like your really there you get every single detail its so sharp you should try it out only you can not get on channels that arent in hdtv

i have both hd ready and not hd ready lcd tv. i watch telewest channels and dont notice much if any difference between the two tv's.
