unfortunatly, almost every escape will cup the tires. even with nothing worn out, and proper tire pressure and maintance. i haven't found or heard of any way to prevent it. just check the tire pressures regularly and rotate them at the proper interval.

being an ASE certified tech., I have found the most common source or tire cupping in the rear is an alignment issue. Way too many tire shops are quick to try and sell shock/struts to unknowing customers. To test your shocks/struts, bounce each corner or the several times and release. the car should only bounce 1 1/2 to 2 times after.

It is the shock absorbers. If they are worn out when you hit a bump they let the tire come up a little but still keep it on the road. When they are worn out the tire comes up off the road too much and when it comes back down it cups the tire. Shocks are your problem. Ask a tire man and he will tell you that.

Cupping of the tire is usually caused by defective shock absorbers or struts depending on your suspension design. The shock absorber or hydraulic/gas strut are designed to keep the wheel on the road. Inability to do this causes the wheel to bounce or jump thereby biting rubber out of the tire.

a variety of things cause this, one being not rotating tires at right intervals ,air pressure, wrong .when rotating right front needs to be put on left rear, and left front on right rear.this will help the cupping problem and even up wear pattern .also rotate every 4000 miles .Opinions will vary on this, but it works for me

Did you rotate your tires as recommended and maintain air pressure? If you did look for incorrect rear toe setting, unbalanced tires, weak shocks or struts, bent suspension parts.

Weak shocks or struts will cause the tires to cup.
