I recently got him from a neighbor who had them outside. I want to keep it inside so it doesn't run off or get killed.

Take the kitty to the Litter Box, scratch his little paws into the litter and he'll get the message. Put the littler away from his food, I use the bathroom, that way you can scoop the poop when you poop!LOL - just shut the bathroom door the first time your trying to teach him, if he's young and you would like him to use the balcony (if you have one) - put a second litter out there, because in the winter and raining days he won't want to go out! Good Luck, Cat are Smart - he'll learn real fast...

Keep him in a small room or large kennel cab with litter pan, food and water. After a week or so start letting him have free run of the house. When you first let him out take him to the litter box 2-3 times a day to make sure he remembers where it is.

Keep him/her in a confined space for 2 or 3 days with the litter box and food and water. If he doesn't use the box then try a different kind of litter. Some cats are picky and will only use one kind (it's usually how the litter feels to the pads on their feet that makes them shy off). I've had cats that would only use ripped up newspaper! The confinement works 95% of the time tho. Good luck with your kitty and thanks for rescuing him from "the great outdoors"! I L♥ve my kitties!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cat was completely wild when we got him...I mean, like scared of people wild. We just showed him the litter box and he began to use it. Now the only accidents he has in the house are when his litter box is full. He also would not use it with a certain kind of litter. If your cat is not taking to it, try changing the litter to a different kind/brand.

There is a litter called Cat Attract. It is a bit pricey compared to other litters, but it works really well to get kittens to use the box the first time. Our cat wouldn't use his box at first, but the second day we had him we bought this stuff and he hasn't had a problem since. After they get used to using the box, you can switch to another (less expensive) litter. If after switching, he stops using the box, it could be he doesn't like the granule size, so try to get one with smaller granules.

Just stick a litter pan in one room and dont move it. Show him where it is so he gets use to it and if he uses the bathroom on the floor show him were the litter pan is again. Dont get fustrated be patient he could learn quickly or it could take him some time. Good luck

Cats have a natural instinct to use a litter box...so when they're old enough to walk a little....they should automatically know how to use the litter box.

. Just keep putting your kitten in the litter box. This might sound stupid but put a tiny piece of it's own poo poo in the box. It will eventually become accustomed to the litter box. Just have patience.

never had a problem--cats are naturally attracted to a CLEAN litter box, placed in a quiet out of the way area

a cat is not like a dog, just show him the litter box and he will take it from there.
