You could try the white pages (USA and Canada), a free service which has name, address and phone number lookup and a new e-mail address feature. If his email address is on there, it wouldn't cost you any money.

Is there anyone you know thats sympathetic to what you're trying to do? Try asking them for a bit of cash for phone calls or you could sell something from your attic or a charity store on eBay to raise cash.

You could also search previous yahoo Answers questions using the keywords 'biological' and 'father'. I gave it a go and there are about 700. One of them is the 2nd link below, with some ueful search services.

If you find him, ask another question on here on how best to approach him. Perhaps a letter and photo first, saying how you feel and what sort of relationship you want with him (nothing demanding, just a few 'It would be lovely if..' kind of things). Us men are a bit dense when it comes to this sort of thing and knowing what to do. Let him know what he's expected to do or what you would like.

Perhaps someone else that you you know or he knows should approach him (not your mother or anyone else he has fallen out with, of course). Ask on here or find websites about it on pitfalls to be avoided. For example, he may have a wife that doesn't know about you yet. For this reason, you need a way of contacting him that doesn't immediately tell his wife without his permission. That doesn't mean he won't tell her when the two of you have talked. Perhaps someone you know can send him an email asking him to call them without saying in the email what its about, then they can tell him how to get in touch with you.

Best of luck. I hope things work out well for you.
